According to the latest Gallup report “State of the Global Workplace: 2022”, now recognized as the collective voice of global employees, in Italy we have the saddest workers in Europe. And this sadness is largely driven by the lack of involvement people feel they have in the workplace. In other words, Italian employees feel like little cogs in a machine that works thanks to them but that doesn’t bother to let them know where they are going. According to the report, in fact, only 4% of workers feel involved, and even 27% of those interviewed said they felt great sadness the previous day.

“It’s absurd, really absurd – explains Federico Lazzerini, a young entrepreneur in the communication sector -. It is not possible that even today we are faced with such a level of frustration and dissatisfaction. After so many years spent trying to make entrepreneurs and companies understand that the true, and in my opinion only, road to success passes precisely from making employees and collaborators feel happy and at ease, I doubt that those who still he has not understood it, he simply does not want to understand it ”.

Federico Lazzerini speaks frankly, and he does so with good reason, on the strength of the results he has achieved so far and which have made him end up at the top of the Forbes ranking dedicated to the most influential young entrepreneurs in Italy. “Personally I believe that people must be put in the best possible conditions to be able to give the best of themselves-he says-he. At my company’s new headquarters, we worked hard to create an environment where employees were happy to come in and spend their time. We have banned plastic but not because today it is so fashionable, but because we believe that today it is essential to reconnect with nature and with spirituality: we like to meditate and there is a room dedicated to meditation (I believe a lot in spirituality, not intended like “praying” to a god, but as a way of experiencing energy). Mens sana in corpore sano, for us it is a sort of mantra: we know that stress is the enemy of health, and therefore in our hall we have placed an 80-inch tennis simulator: when we feel that the endocrines are collapsing, we go to pull two racket in joy “. And then Federico’s new office is located exactly above a gym, because going to relieve tension by exercising, perhaps together with colleagues, not only serves to relieve stress but to strengthen relationships.

“In any case – concludes the young entrepreneur – I am the first to argue that we cannot live on work alone. Life is made up of different aspects of which we must all equally take care: family, friends, society and work. If we spend 6 days a week closed in a factory or in an office it is impossible to lead a happy life, even if we are doing the best job in the world. And it is precisely with this in mind that, when I inaugurated my new headquarters and started the selection for collaborators, I made it clear that we don’t have fixed hours just like we work 4 days a week. The rest of the time we must all be free to live it and manage it as we see fit, doing what makes us feel good. Only in this way, only by leaving collaborators and employees the freedom to manage their time and work towards achieving a shared result, can companies return to prosper “.
