The “director” Luca, this is the traditional formula that has always distinguished him, was able to offer a true Christian witness by first teaching and guiding the innovative elementary school, then primary and then again in the comprehensive school ” Don Milani ”of Catania.
Through the school renewal service, within the AIMC and with the support of trade union organizations, ASASI, the association of managers, he accompanied and guided the preparation of teachers and educators: a commitment always carried out with dedication, disinterest , charity and truth, exemplarity and wisdom.
The school and the manwere embodied in his professional action, always putting the pupil, his history, his experience at the center and therefore activating a path “together” and not just “alongside”, a path of integral training and education through education and school subjects, means and tools and not the end of the school, which educates and trains people and citizens.
The concept of man-person, in the light of his theological formation and experiences of service to the Church in the early years of his career, enriched by the vision of Christian personalism, found centrality in Jesus Master, model of the true educator who is attentive and capable of coming meeting the needs of each and every one.
These things taught us and witnessed by the director Luca. It is up to us to follow in his footsteps.
His spirituality has matured more and more fueled by an unshakable faith and in recent years in the crucible of suffering he has enriched his spirit of prayer and confident abandonment to the Lord, waiting for him to come and knock on his door and be ready to open it.
Here, the moment has arrived, the door has opened and the little seed that has always wanted to remain hidden, humble, forgotten, has sprouted, the fruits are positive and according to the poetic metaphor here is “a plow at the bottom of the fallow”, a symbol and sign of the work of the wise farmer who traces a furrow, which marks the path and gives an identity.
We executive colleagues and those who have had it as Director and Friend, having received such a great and precious gift, we have the duty to keep it and the true wealth of a precious testimony comes when we are able to give it to others and continue the memory over time. and memory, implementing his wise advice.
