A new stage of “A Sua Immagine estate” in Umbria, in the city of Spoleto, the result of the millennial evolution of the relationship between nature, environment and human society, permeated with the spirituality infused by the hermits and St. Francis of Assisi who found in Monteluco refuge and asceticism. Seat of the Festival dei Due Mondi since 1958, the city has won, also thanks to this event, a role of international importance in the artistic and cultural world.
The broadcast, conducted by Lorena Bianchetti, broadcast today from 4 pm on Rai Uno, will present the riches of the sacred heritage that are kept in the cathedral dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta, which dominates the square and the proscenium staircase of the festival and famous film set of the fiction of Rai1 “Don Matteo”. Other churches that substantiate the religious and spiritual history of the city, alternate in the television story with the Rocca Albornoz, a bulwark wanted in 1362 by card. Egidio Albornoz who had chosen Spoleto as a strategic nucleus for the reconquest of the Papal State: the castle of Spoleto dominates the valley, also guarding treasures that the cameras will document between one note and another of the festival of the two worlds of 2022. Reborn after the pandemic, the kermesse directed by Monique Veaute, proposed, among other things, the performance of Angélique Kidjo, one of the most original and extraordinary voices on the international music scene. In Spoleto, the four-time Grammy Award winner presented her new album Mother Nature that she told in an interview with “A lei Immagine di lei”.
To follow “The reasons for Hope” with Don Maurizio Patriciello. Not everyone knows that Saint Anthony of Padua was born in Lisbon and was baptized there with the name of Fernando. His story is deepened by Don Maurizio Patriciello between the capital of Portugal and the city of Coimbra, where Fernando became Brother Antonio after having matured the vocational choice that made him become the preacher and thaumaturge that the whole world venerates today. In Lisbon, a visit to his birthplace, on which today stands a church dedicated to him, the destination of thousands of pilgrims; a museum that talks about the rooting of the Portuguese saint in his city; the Sé, the Lisboan cathedral where Fernando was baptized and the monastery of San Vincenzo outside the walls where, as a teenager, he retired until he chose to move away from friends and temptations in the monastery of the Holy Cross in Coimbra, the watershed place of his training that led him from the Augustinians to approach the friars minor followers of St. Francis of Assisi.
The episode of “A Sua Immagine” on Sunday 21 August, broadcast from 10.30, is dedicated to the saints of the sea, to those saints who have a direct relationship with the sea and are therefore venerated for this reason. Among the saints linked to the sea is St. Nicholas whose relics were brought to Italy across the sea. St Paul also came from the sea to Malta where he became the first bishop of the island. San Francesco di Paola, patron saint of sailors and seafarers, is venerated in the religiosity of the coastal people who seek protection and salvation from the dangers of nature. In the studio together with Lorena Bianchetti there will be Lia Giancristofaro, anthropologist, and Father Luciano Lotti, general secretary of the Padre Pio Prayer Groups. As usual at 10.55, after the news with Paolo Balduzzi, the line will switch to mass, always live on Rai Uno: the Eucharistic celebration will be broadcast from the church of San Giovanni Battista in Àlice Bel Colle (Alessandria). At 12, as every Sunday, the Angelus recited by Pope Francis from St. Peter’s Square.
