He was in the parish of Dogliani in the summer, now he is auxiliary bishop at 40 in Ukraine

Father Nicola Semenyshyn this summer in Dogliani, with Don Marco Sciolla

“The Synod of Bishops of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church elected auxiliary bishop of the Archieparchy of Ivano-Frankivsk (Ukraine) Msgr. Mykola (Nicola) Semenyshyn, to whom the Holy Father granted his assent, assigning him the titular see of Junk of Mauritania ”, thus the announcement of the Vatican press office, which concerns a Ukrainian priest of the same diocese from which Fr. Michele and p. Alessio present in the upper Val Tanaro for some time now. Indeed, the new bishop himself was parish collaborator in Dogliani, Belvedere and Murazzano in the summer, supporting the parish priest Don Marco Sciolla. Bishop Mykola (Nicola) Semenyshyn is 40 years old. He has been a priest since 2005. He holds a licentiate in spiritual theology from the Pontifical Theological Faculty and Pontifical Institute of Spirituality “Teresianum” and carried out the pastoral ministry at the service of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic faithful in the diocese of Pinerolo. He is currently spiritual director in the major seminary of the Three Holy Hierarchs in Kyiv. The news was welcomed with joy in the communities of Dogliani, Belvedere and Murazzano. We still want to express gratitude – Fr Marco Sciolla tells us on behalf of the three parishes – for the humble and generous service he has carried out with us this summer and we assure him of prayer in this new ministry. We remember him with affection and gratitude because he was a precious presence among us. He generously made himself available, also remaining alone in Dogliani while I followed the campsites of the boys in Chiappera. We kept in touch and made a good bond.

I write these thoughts of mine while kamikaze drones they are bombing Kyiv… but I would rather talk about the positive things – wrote Msgr. Mikola for the Parish Bulletin of Dogliani -. With much gratitude and joy I remember my stay among you. Praying together, sharing the joys and daily hardships was too good … As I already told you one day that it was a miracle for me to be able to leave Ukraine during wartime (males aged 18 to 60 cannot They let me go out because of my residence in Italy) and when I arrived in Dogliani I was first struck by the welcome of your parish priest Don Marco with his smile and welcoming soul. My stay with you could not have had a more beautiful start than on the day of Corpus Domini with Mass and the beautiful procession to Castello. That evening, having seen so many faithful in the church, including children, young people, nuns, nuns, I said to myself: “Here I will be happy” and – I can tell you the ending -: I was not wrong. In conclusion, I would like to say to you, dear Don Marco, a big thank you for having believed in me. Thanks a lot to each of you for your help! I ask you to continue praying for peace in Ukraine!.
