EUROPE/ITALY – In Assisi, the 20th edition of the Days of Formation and Missionary Spirituality

Rome (Agenzia Fides) – The deadline for registration for the National Days of Formation and Missionary Spirituality planned in Assisi, organized each year by the National Office for Missionary Cooperation between the Churches of the Italian Episcopal Conference and the Missio Foundation, expires on July 30.
Biblical scholars, missionaries and missionaries will give their testimony in a busy program of conferences taking place in the Umbrian city from Thursday August 25 to Sunday August 28, also transmitted online for those who wish to follow the debates from a distance (register until August 6 in this case).
“Speaking Lives” is the title given to the event which, according to tradition, is a continuation of that of Missionary October and follows the slogan of World Mission Day.
“The slogan “Speaking Lives” is an opportunity for deeper reflection, following the figure of Saint Paul as a leitmotif, on the arc of his life, from conversion to martyrdom. An example, almost an paradigm of ad gentes: he is truly an example of a ‘life that speaks'”, explains Don Giuseppe Pizzoli, Director General of the Missio Foundation.
Four very intense days that will begin on Thursday with the lectio by theologian Laura Verrani aimed at deepening the most significant aspects of the life of the Apostle of the Gentiles and the conference “The world has changed… and the Church? What conversions ?” by Father Mario Antonelli, Episcopal Vicar for Education and Celebration of the Faith of the Diocese of Milan. On Friday, the theme “Formed and sent” will be the leitmotif of the interventions planned by Fr Michele Roselli, director of the catechetical office of the Diocese of Turin, Sr. Luigia Coccia, Superior of the Comboni Missionary Sisters, Gianni Borsa, communication director of Missio , and Father Cesare Baldi, priest of the diocese of Novara and former director of Caritas Algeria.
A round table is also planned with Don Olindo Furlanetto, former fidei donum in Brazil, Sara Foschi from the Community of Pope John XXIII and Little Sister Daniela Chiara di Gesù.
“Discernment and communion: the synodal journey” will be the theme of the third day with the opening speech by theologian Serena Noceti. In the afternoon, the meeting with several voices on “Collegiality and synodality as an integral part of the nature of the Church” with Don Cristiano Bettega, Episcopal delegate for the sector of witness and social commitment of the ‘Archdiocese of Trento, Alexandru-Marius Crisan of Lucian Blaga University in Romania, Ilenya Goss, Waldensian pastor in Mantua. On the last day, Sunday August 28, the task of closing the proceedings with final thoughts on how to “keep hope alive”.
