called to the present

We live in the present and we have to do it consciously, preventing automatisms from leading us to lose the meaning of existence. We cannot allow ourselves to be imprisoned by memories, allowing them to enslave us in a reality that does not exist. We must prevent the predictions that some make from filling us with anxieties and preventing us from working seriously on what we can control. We are owners of our today, and we have to assume it with concrete attitudes.

It is time to live with confidence, hope and optimism. We cannot let fear take over our hearts and make us fail in each of our daily actions. For this, it is important to demonstrate our capabilities, develop our skills, focus on opportunities and generate synergies that allow us to build stable processes and achieve the goals we seek and need for life.

It is time to work disciplined and with perseverance in the construction of our plans. We depend on our effort and we do it from a strict commitment in the search for excellence. We cannot wait for what we have not worked for, and we must do it with confidence in what we are capable of doing, in the people who have shown us to be trustworthy with their actions, in the ideas and values that drive us; and also believing that our life has a purpose in God.

It is also time to sharpen our thinking and critical attitude. Stop swallowing whole and prevent naivety from making us believe that the solutions are magical. Fanaticism is always the gateway to hell; making dogmas -in any dimension of life- our way of being in the world and relating to others, prevents us from growing and finding the richness of diversity.

I love when Victor Frankl reminds us that what determines the meaning of existence are the decisions and not the conditions in which we develop. We are not slaves to those contexts. We are thinking, active beings with an infinite capacity for learning, which is why we can adapt any situation to ourselves and make the best possible use of it. Each one decides the attitude with which he faces life. They could take everything away from us, but not that possibility of choosing how to live.

Trusting that we will be able to build our future from the decisions of the present implies focusing on the qualities and capacities that we have, and finding life partners that add value in everyday life; train ourselves in all the existential spaces in which we feel that we need to develop better and greater virtues; and get out of our comfort zone to demand that our skills grow and develop. Trust is not naivety, but believing that we are capable of achieving our individual and social goals.

I hope that each one can delve into this, to the point that our thoughts, our words and the ways of approaching reality, express the vital commitment to be optimistic in life; that we train and prepare daily to be more competent in the work we do, and not let the siren songs make us leave our safe harbor. Let us always be critical. I also hope that those people who have a spiritual practice find in it a tool to generate the best contexts for realization. We cannot allow spirituality to become an anchor.
