Breast cancer. The Pastoral Care of Rome with the Ao San Giovanni Addolorata promote humanized treatments

The Breast Health Center in collaboration with the Pastoral Health Diocese of Rome launches a series of initiatives on the occasion of the month of prevention. First appointment on 1 October with the conference “The change of care” to show closeness to women affected by breast cancer and raise awareness of health workers and citizens towards topics that see the patient more and more as a person.

27 SEPT – The new edition of the International Month for the Prevention of Breast Cancer and the Pink October initiatives is about to kick off. An occasion that also sees the Senology Center of the San Giovanni-Addolorata Hospital engaged, which in collaboration with the Pastoral Health Diocese of Rome opens its initiatives with a conference organized for Saturday 1 October entitled “The Change of Care” .

“The initiative – explains a note – will serve to show closeness to women affected by breast cancer and to sensitize health workers and citizens to topics of extreme importance but sometimes little considered in the standards of hospital structures. An integrated and holistic approach to the overall care of the patient with breast cancer requires attention to the “patient as a person”, for an integrated vision of care and for a global management that also affects aspects of quality of life as an integral part of the cure “.

In addition to presenting the activities of the Breast Health Center of the Hospital, topics of great interest will be addressed such as the importance of doctor-patient communication (Dr. Tiziana Mastropietro) and Mindfulness Awareness Meditation in the treatment path. This last activity, activated as a pilot project at the Senology Center for over a year by dr Simona Carloni, saw the involvement of over 80 women treated in this period through a clinical protocol for stress reduction and emotion management.

Finally, the aspect of spirituality as a cure will be treated by Prof.. Tonino Cantelmi.
