Feel better with musicthis is the concept of sound therapy. In Essarts-le-Roi (Yvelines), the initiation workshop offered during Blue Week was a great success. So much so that it is now perpetuated at the rate of two workshops per month.
“The belief that music does good”
And this is Jennifer Hennique, music lover always and musician (guitar, piano, vocals..), who officiates. Like many other people, the confinement was a trigger in his change of career path.
“I have worked in various professions, mainly in the field of personal assistance. I wanted to combine music and well-being, so sound therapy seemed obvious to me! Especially since I’ve always had the conviction that music does good. »
After her training, Jennifer launched her small business, pakshadar.
“It means ‘feather’ in Sanskrit because sound therapy is a very old practice that comes to us from India. Moreover, this word has a meaning for me. It’s a symbol that has always followed me and that evokes lightness and spirituality,” says Jennifer.
For a year now, she has been offering sound therapy sessions in the nursing home of the sector, withincompaniesin yoga schoolat Pleasure, of dance in Rambouillet (Mdanse78) but also in the context of group and individual sessions.
Sound journeys through instruments with a high vibratory power
Sessions she calls “sound journeys”. After 10 to 15 minutes of meditation, especially through breathing, to anchor yourself in the present moment, it’s time to travel. Either seated or lying down, the participant lets himself be carried away by instrument vibrations which Jennifer plays.
Singing bowls, chimes, drums, ocean drums (which perfectly reproduces the sound of the waves) pan flutes, rain sticks, Tibetan bells… specific instruments, with strong vibratory power, which send the participants into their imagination for 40 to 45 minutes.
“They reach an altered state of consciousness. In concrete terms, they are conscious but relaxed, on the verge of falling asleep. »
A result that can be explained scientifically according to the sound therapist: “The body being composed of 65% water, the sound frequencies emitted by the vibrations spread throughout the body, giving a feeling of well-being. »
” I am not a doctor ! »
This kind of workshop is developing a lot, especially in geriatrics departments, with regard to its impact on health and the mind. But Jennifer underlines it well, in no case, she does not practice sound therapy for therapeutic purposes.
” I am not a doctor ! I simply seek to bring general physical and emotional well-being. It is a form of relaxation session. People come to see me mainly for anxiety problems or sleep disorders, for example, and I offer them a moment of well-being and introspection. »
