Another heat stroke Toulouse. Météo France has placed the Pink City and the whole of Upper Garonne in orange vigilance in the heat wave from noon this Wednesday, August 3, 2022. The mercury could thus exceed 38°C locally.

Temperatures that are sometimes difficult for the body to bear. Especially since not everyone has an air conditioning or ventilation system at home or at work. Even though it is strongly recommended to spend several hours a day in a cool placehere are some ways to take a break from the heat.

#1. make a web

Dark rooms… and cool! Cinema is the guarantee of a air-conditioned break movie time. Especially since Wednesday is day out. As bullet trainwith brad pitt or year of the sharkwith Marina Fois, on view August 3. And since it’s summer, there are many films for the youngest.

Please note that one of the cinemas in the Toulouse conurbation has closed its doors for the month of August: no screenings are scheduled at UGC Montaudran until August 23.

#2. Stroll to the mall

These are not necessarily the most exotic places in the world, but they have the advantage of being equipped with air conditioning. A short trip to the shopping center to stroll in front of the shops and bring down the temperature is a good way to cope with this high heat.

No need to be transported: in the city center you can go to the shopping center Companion Reflections or to Saint-Georges shopsor take metro line A (not air-conditioned) to reach the Gramont shopping center.

#3. A break at the church

In 2019, Father Simon d’Artigues, Abbot of Parish of Toulousehad made people smile by posting on social networks, in the midst of a heat wave, an invitation to come and benefit from “physical and spiritual refreshment” at the St. Stephen’s Cathedral.

Beyond the joke, the idea makes sense. Especially since the Pink City has the privilege of benefiting from magnificent churches to discover or rediscover. Saint-Sernin basilica, Notre-Dame-du-Taur church, Saint-Etienne cathedral, Notre-Dame de la Daurade basilica… Fresh, silent spaces, with a rich and beautiful heritage.

#4. Meet at the museum

Art, culture and… air-conditioned rooms. Or how to combine pleasure for the eyes and refreshment for the body in the museums of the Pink City. Especially since several very nice temporary exhibitions are to be discovered at the moment in several of them. Mithra mystery at the Saint-Raymond museum, Orlan at the Abattoirs, Long Ma the dragon mare at the Halle de la Machine…

A little extra, like every first Sunday of the month, the permanent collections of the Toulouse municipal museums will be accessible free of charge on August 7, 2022.

#5. A walk in the forest

2000 hectares of trees just a few kilometers from Toulouse: it’s the forest of Bouconne ! And as in all forests, temperatures are lower than those recorded in towns or on the plains. On site, marked walking trails and an ecology trail. Obviously, in these times of heat wave, sports courses are strongly discouraged.

#6. A time at the library

Leaf through magazines, dive into a comic strip or devour a good novel in the cool. If all the libraries and media libraries in the Pink City are closed until the end of the month, the José Cabanis media library still welcomes readers in August.
