Triennale Milano: meetings with Andrei Ujica, Peter Sloterdijk and Antonio Spadaro

Milan Triennale And Fondation Cartier pour dell’arte contemporain present, in the context of Triennial Summer and of Unknown Unknowns. TOn Introduction to Mysteries, 23rd International Exhibition of Triennale Milano, two days of meetings dedicated to exploring some themes of the Mondo Reale exhibition, organized by Fondation Cartier. Mondo Reale brings together works that express the feeling of the unknown perceived in the world in which we live, through the encounter with different cultures, with faith or with natural phenomena.

Wednesday 28 September 2022at 19.00, the conversation between Andrei Ujica and Father Antonio Spadaro, Jesuit and director of La Civiltà Cattolica, will develop from Ujica’s film 2 Pasolini (2000/2021), which he made for the Desert exhibition, held at the Fondation Cartier pour dell’arte contemporain in 2000 and currently presented in the Real World. In the film, Andrei Ujica honors Pier Paolo Pasolini’s cinematography with a lyrical and powerful homage, in which rhythm and spirituality come together in an evocative montage, accompanied by a vivid soundscape. Thanks to a skilful montage of images taken from Inspections in Palestine for the Gospel according to Matthew by Pier Paolo Pasolini, the film follows the Italian director and his theological consultant, Don Andrea Carraro, on a journey through Palestine in the sixties, in their attempt to identify the settings of Pasolini’s biblical masterpiece. 2 Pasolini therefore follows the journey through the desert of Pier Paolo Pasolini and of Christ, to the shores of an impetuous sea. The conversation, in Italian and English with simultaneous translation, will be preceded by the screening of the film 2 Pasolini by Andrei Ujica.

Thursday 29 September 2022at 19.00, Peter Sloterdijk and Andrei Ujica will dialogue taking inspiration from the film La Nature (2020) by the filmmaker Artavazd Pelechian: a real visual poem, presented for the first time in Italy on the occasion of the Mondo Reale exhibition. The film, produced by the Fondation Cartier, shows the relationship between man and nature through sequences of images designed to produce a monumental and poetic cinematic experience, which escapes the classic distinction between fiction and documentary. The conversation will be held in German with simultaneous translation into Italian and English. The 62-minute film La Nature is part of the Mondo Reale exhibition, in which it is screened every day at the following times: 11.30, 13.00, 14.30, 16.00, 17.30, 18.45.
