the official jury assigned to “Graftsby Sandro Bozzolofor the Italian Competition Feature Films category with the motivation: a good story, which begins with a father in a tree and a boy son filming him with his new video camera. An original look, that of the boy, who tells in a delicate, poetic way and without the need for sentimentality and emphasis, tells about our relationship with nature and with an ancient and moving modesty the passing of the baton between two generations. the skilful use of editing and music and the perfect narrative balance bring us into those woods and into the beautiful soul of those who do not want to let them disappear, of those who do not stop taking care of nature and themselves every day. And it leaves us the hope that our children can do better than us, especially if we know how to transmit love, care and kindness of mind.

The Student Jury assigned to “Rent strike bolognina“By Michael Petrolini, for the Italian Competition Feature Films category with the motivation: for having addressed the current and universal issue of the right to housing with a light and not superficial vision, entering the lives of variegated and intriguing characters and reminding us viewers how cinema can and should also have a political function that comes out of politics itself .

The same jury awarded the special mention to “One more timeby Tommaso Montaldofor the category New Talent Opera Prima Italian Competition with the motivation: for having transformed the observation of reality into an epic narrative, for having made the urge to push oneself beyond one’s limits. Dragging the viewer with it. A real common dream.

The international jury assigned to “If you are a man“By Simon Panay the special mention with the motivation: a beautiful cinematic and compelling story of a young African who works in the gold mines to finance his future career. The slow and poetic pace of the documentary reflects the rural life of Burkina Faso and tells a strong story of a lost childhood.

For the competition VR visions the following have been assigned special mentions:

Ex aequo “Genesisby Jörg Courtial And “Replacementsby Jonathan Hagard who received the special mention of the press assigned by the quality jury composed of Nicola Baroni (La Repubblica), Giada Borioli (Grazia.it), Federico Cella (Corriere della Sera), Katia Del Savio (Mi-Tomorrow), Stefano Gallarini ( Radio Monte Carlo), Erika Gherardi (Tech Princess), Marta Meli (Sky Tg24), Marco Paretti (Fanpage), Stefano Priolo (Wired), Gian Luca Rocco (Mediaset), Luca Tremolada (Il Sole 24 Ore), Sara Valente ( The day).

Reasons, for “Genesis”: During the entire duration of the vision, the director manages to make the viewer feel really present during the creation of the World. Genesis is in visual language exactly what is expected of a new media: a way of telling stories that otherwise can only be imagined; for “Replacements” the motivation: the cartoon technique played a fundamental role in this short, making it totally unexpected. Virtual reality is not used to amaze but to transmit: thanks to an interesting use of 360 ° shooting, the direction has made every single point of the scene an important detail for the purposes of the narration and has wisely had the ability to tell a story. intense story, without using words.

“Genesis” from Jörg Courtial receives the special mention of the content creators, assigned by the quality jury composed of Tommaso Cassissa, Chiara Cazzamali, Alessio Ferrantino, Stefano Guerrera, Stefano Maiolica, Andrea Moccia, Elisabetta Roncati, Matilde Silvestri, with the motivation: un documentary in which the form is the substance, extremely engaging both in the images and thanks to the narrated voice. It proves to be able to fully exploit all the power of virtual reality to condense in a few minutes what has happened in millions of years. An extremely immersive sensory experience.
