“The sex of the angels”, the new film by Leonardo Pieraccioni from today in cinemas

CAMPI BISENZIO – The new film by Leonardo Pieraccioniby title “The sex of angels”(Now in cinemas), a comedy built between doubts, morality and redemption.
The film stars Don Simone (Leonardo Pieraccioni), a priest in a church in Florence, who finds himself inheriting an estate in Lugano, Switzerland.

When he arrives in Switzerland to see what was donated by the eccentric uncle Waldemaro (Massimo Ceccherini), Don Simone finds himself in front of a brothel, run by Lena (Sabrina Ferilli) and full of beautiful girls. Thus Don Simone is faced with a profitable but sinful activity, which will put his faith in crisis.

The presentation of the film was also an opportunity to take stock of the state of the art of cinematography.

“I hope – said Pieraccioni – that the cinema will restart in theaters, because the full room and the projector are magic. I was lucky enough to make my debut in 1995, when my friends called me who couldn’t get into theaters to watch a movie. It’s different now. There are also and are important, the Netflix and Sky platforms, but a comedy always has 7-8 million spectators and theaters are important ”.

Then the Florentine director-actor talked about his latest production.

“I’m happy with the film – he said -, I can watch films for what they are and I’m happy with this film because I usually put question marks. When I saw ‘The cyclone’ in the room I remember that Rita Cecchi Gori he said: ‘let’s hope this makes eight million’, I replied: ‘I’d put the signature to six’. In this film, on the other hand, the main actor is a frontier priest who, when faced with a choice, in doubt whether to continue being a priest or not, you have seen what decision he makes ”.

“The Italian politicians – continues Pieraccioni – are not serious while the subject of the reopening of closed houses is very serious and prostitution on the street makes me tenderness. I am in favor of the reopening of closed houses. Prostitution will always be there, let’s try to regularize it “.

Eva Moore in the film plays Ameriga: “I am the training ship and I carry on the culture of the profession – she explains -, in the film I am a friend of Lena and mine is an added character in the running at the end of the script”.

The idea for the film was born while Pieraccioni was writing another screenplay.

“While I was working – he says -, I thought that at that moment it would take the crazy story of a priest who inherits a brothel in Switzerland, so I came up with the theme of doubt and redemption a bit like the idea of ​​fires of artifice. An idea thrown there. Both Sabrina and Marcello Fonte(in the film he plays Giacinto), were the first names that came to mind ”.

What was it like working with Ferilli?

“Ferilli is like you imagine her, on the other hand she is not a new actress that you have to try. You have seen her in the film, when needed, she is a woman with a veil of sadness in her eyes. She then she brought me food on the set, of everything, but she fell sull’inzimino, she did not know him and did not bring it to me. She is strong and funny, she is one of those actresses you think about for the next film ”.

The biggest temptation in life?

“It’s Ceccherini. But in life I have always been tempted by the stuff to eat, I have always loved women but I have never been tempted ”.

Sex and religion wasn’t easy, how did you censor yourself?

“This is a stand-up comedian’s film. These high arguments if you have the license of Pierino the plague you can do them without fear. Indeed, after seeing it, I said to myself a few more puns I could have done ”.

In the film there are lines and scenes where you send the message you want to give, perhaps you have reached a moment in your life where you feel the need for spirituality?

“The priest is a character who makes you feel something, I strongly believe in Margherita Hack but also in Saint Thomas, but I don’t think that faith is schematic like hell, heaven and purgatory. When I entered the church, I always felt something important. For the 50th birthday I had a nice party and I gave myself the relaxation of honesty, because before then, if there was something wrong, I didn’t say it. At 31 I would never have said God exists, but now I tell the essence as I have never done in some years. Films like ‘Se Son Rose’ are more honest. Now the room is so small that you do things that have a vision in time. Everything is played on platforms. I like this character because he is a character of the small evaluations of your life. Now I’m ready, with some knee pads, to throw myself on the ground ”.
