On Saturday, October 1, the festival was launched, in a ceremony held in the Incatur auditorium (Tourist Training Institute) within the International Tourism Fair (FIT), at the Palermo Fairgrounds.

The organizer of Arfecine, the film critic Pablo de Vita, who works for the newspaper La Nación and the magazine Criterio, led the act in which the return of this festival was announced in person, after the parenthesis of the corona virus, since the same time with virtual transmission.

The main prize will be named after Norberto Padilla, professor of Constitutional Law who was Secretary of Worship of the Nation, who died in 2020, who gave his support and advice to this festival.

Among others, spoke Graciela Garzelli, from the Aldea de las Luces Foundation, which promotes spirituality and social and cultural integration through film and the arts, and the journalist Gustavo Loza, a reference for religious tourism at the Córdoba Tourism Agency and secretary of press of the archbishopric of Córdoba. Among the attendees was Carlos Morelli, film critic, remembered for his television program Private Function. At the event, the 2021 distinction of the official jury was presented to the filmmaker Poli Martínez Kaplun, director of the documentary film “La casa de Wansee”, in which she was interested in tracing the history of her German Jewish grandparents, who survived by going into exile in Egypt. and Argentina, and whose house was very close to the place where in 1942 Nazi leaders met and decided to exterminate the Jews of Europe.

Likewise, the lifetime achievement award was given to the writer Myrtha Schalon, who pointed out the educational value of art and highlighted moral values: “We have free will, and we know where is good and where is evil.”

It was announced at the event who will be the jurors of the short film competition: the director of the unusual film festival Fabián Sancho (Argentina); the writer and short filmmaker Lorena Cancela (Argentina) and the director of the Punta del Este Jewish Film Festival, Fernando Goldsman (Uruguay).

The jury for the official feature film competition will be chaired by the writer and president of the Jorge Luis Borges International Foundation, María Kodama (Argentina), and made up of the director of the magazine Criterio, José María Poirier (Argentina), and the director of the Center for Latin American Studies of the Palacký University of Olomouc, Daniel Nemrava (Czech Republic).
