The best weekend events in Milan

Still hot weekend. Not only in terms of climate but also for the quantity and quality of the proposals. Starting from Cinema in celebration, which chooses Sunday to start offering discounted tickets at 3.50 euros (until 22 September). The intent is to entice the public to go to the hall. There are films, there are also cinemas, since most have joined the initiative.

FESTIVAL
It ends on Sunday Visions from the world (15-18 September, free admission subject to availability, visionidalmondo.it)eighth edition of International documentary festival, or – as they say now – of the “cinema of reality”. Dedicated this year to “More knowledge, more awareness”, very current concepts, today, it takes place between the Litta Theater, the Eliseo Cinema and the Science and Technology Museum (here a special VR Zone is set up in the Auditorium where you can view some of the documentaries in competition in virtual reality). Among the guests and the highlights of the final days: Saturday “Hotel Sarajevo” by Barbara Cupisti, reflections on a war that bloodied the Balkans only a few years ago and everyone seems to have forgotten (Litta, 8.45 pm); Sunday, masterclass with the producer and director Domenico Procacci (Eliseo, 3 pm), followed by a screening of “A team” on and with the guys who made the business of winning the Davis Cup in 1976. From this weekend until September 25th at North Milan Park come back on Biodiversity Festival, dedicated this year to the Amazon Forest, vital for our survival and the planet. The festival does this by resorting to the languages ​​of art – shows, screenings, exhibitions, meetings, concerts, workshops and performances – and of science. Among the guests, Adriano Karipuna, native leader of the people of Rondonia, a symbol of resistance to the destruction of that habitat. Among the initiatives of these first days, Cospe organizes the solidarity picnic # 100ceneperamazzonia at the Cascina Centro Parco on Sunday at 12.30 (reservations required on festivalbiodiversita.it)

The Photofestival (milanophotofestival.it), an annual photography review that between now and 31 October will fill the city with over 150 photographic exhibitions housed in art galleries, museums, libraries, theaters, historic buildings and photography shops, from the city center of the “Palazzo della Fotografia ”located in Palazzo Castiglioni (corso Venezia 47) in the hinterland, in the province (Bergamo, Brescia, Monza, Lecco Varese also involved). From this weekend it is already visible “Water making the invisible visible”, the best photos of the World Water Day Photo Contest 2022 (at Centrale dell’Acqua). EVENTS
Sunday the Triennial hosts The Gathering (viale Alemagna 6, free admission for performances in the atrium and in the garden, triennale.org), an uninterrupted flow of spontaneous performances and music conceived as a global installation that covers the whole day, from 11 to 24, designed by Ferdinando Arnòwinner of the Targa Tenco 2022.

Saturday and Sunday City Life Park hosts Wanderlust 108 (en.wanderlust.events/italy), the only mindful triathlon dedicated to self-awareness with running sessions, mind-body warm up, yoga flow accompanied by dj-set and guided meditation, silent yoga, gong baths, animal flow, gyrochinesis, mindful markets, healthy food and interventions by health coach and yoga teacher. Five types of tickets are available based on the activities you want to do.

Saturday and Sunday the PIME Center hosts the 91st edition of the Missionary Congress (via Monte Rosa 81, free admission, centropime.org) with the presence of Cardinal Matteo Zuppi and a calendar full of appointments between mission, culture, solidarity and workshops for children.

MUSIC
Saturday at Forum of Assago (via G. di Vittorio 6, 9 pm, 53 / 64.50 euros) the only Italian date of the tour of Arcade Firethe leading independent rock band of the new millennium.

Back to the City Concertthe great classical music in BAM Park. On Sunday at 8 pm in the large lawn of the Biblioteca degli Alberi in the Isola district, the fourth edition of the free outdoor concert will be staged, featuring the soloists and the orchestra of the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala.

Saturday and Sunday back to Live Music Club of Trezzo sull’Adda Metalitalia.com, one of the most anticipated festivals dedicated to metal music. SPORT
Sunday from 10 to Milan Bonacossa Tennis Club (via Giuseppe Arimondi 15) is disputed A racket for life, a charity event with the presence of former champion Raffaella Reggi with an all-female tennis challenge to support the Ieo-Monzino Foundation in support of the Ieo Women’s Cancer Center. From this weekend, part of the exhibition “The thin red thread of memory” has been housed in the foyer, which offers a selection of works by Veronica Menghi inspired by the work of his father, architect Roberto, including the blow-up of the painting “Arlecchino looks for a place”, the original of which will remain on permanent display at the cinema (Tuesday instead, a tribute to that other great Milanese architecture and design that is Aldo Rossi, whose exhibition at the Museo del Novecento has been extended until 6 November). Furthermore, starting from Sunday, in the presence of his daughter Enrica, he proposes the retrospective of the works of the (forgotten) filmmaker Elio Ruffo starting from the restored version of “Tempo di amarsi” (5.30 pm) of 1955 which, presented at the IX Locarno Film Festival , received a special mention.

Located in the small hall of the theater in the basement and with a preview video in the foyer, “Teatro in Mostra. A 150-year history ”traces the daring history of this theater from its foundation to the present day with documents, newspapers and period magazines, photographs, booklets, playbills, models and a multimedia installation. Following, until December, the celebrations are completed by a program of meetings consisting of a dialogue and a musical part, which will tell the variety and richness of genres that have been staged on this stage.

DANCE
Come back Milan Dancing City, a project of shows and workshops to approach dance, which is divided into three paths: #danzaMI (performances in theatrical and non-theatrical spaces of the city), #mostraMIladanza (site-specific projects within the city museums), #formaMI (moments of theoretical study and workshops for the public). The first to start, Sunday, is #danzaMI: with “The Ring” by Alessio Maria Romano, Silver Lion at the Biennale Teatro 2020, hosted in the Barrio’s spaces. The performance is anticipated by a dancing procession in Piazza Donne Partigiane and is part of the “90/91: shall we dance?” promoted by Fattoria Vittadini.

OUTDOOR
In conjunction with the autumn edition of Open Villas in Brianza (until 2 October, villeaperte.info)who turns 20, returns on Saturday and Sunday Monza Park Festival (viale Brianza 1, festivaldelparcodimonza.it), eco-sustainable cultural event dedicated to the discovery, knowledge and enhancement of the Royal Park and Gardens, of its Villas and Cascine. In two days over 50 events of various kinds: artistic, musical, literary, poetic, theatrical, meetings and didactic-educational workshops for children and adults focused on nature and art. Not to be missed: the walks with musical accompaniments and laboratory on the making of violins; on Sunday the small spiritual concerts for cello in the Cardinal Durini Chapel and the meeting of the radio host Marco Ardemagni with the astrophysicist Luca Perri.

Sunday third appointment a Villa Arconati (via Fametta 1, Bollate, activities included in the entrance ticket, reservations required, villaarconati-far.it) with “Il filo della storia”: we will talk about “Dejeuner sul l’herbe”, or rather the funny story of the picnic from the eighteenth century to the beginning of the twentieth century. Also on Sunday (11.30 am and 3 pm), on the occasion of Angela Lyn’s exhibition “On the Edge of Time”, the Anglo-Indian jazz player Jesse Bannister will join his friend Angela for a performance.
