0 12 Drum and canto
It is the drum and the song: one by its rhythm carries the melody of the other and the combination of the two is the most widespread form of expression of the traditional cultures of the world.

The songs and the drums take the couples into the dance, impress the words in the memory of the listeners and with them all the messages, whether they are dedicated to the party, to religion or simply to everyday life.

“Haiti! A very symbolic country in the turbulent history of the Caribbean, the very origin of the liberation of slaves, and of the liberation of the entire South American continent from the Spanish yoke.

This year, at the Tambor y Canto meetings, we speak Kréole! Despite the narrowness of the territory, the richness and quantity of the many musical styles is astonishing, marked by the spiritual power of voodoo. With six artists, an exhibition, a round table, a film, two workshops, come and discover the many traditional songs and rhythms of Haiti!”

A L’assos Picante production within the framework of the Pôle des Musiques du Monde.
