Sufi culture: Morocco, land of exchanges of spiritualities

The odyssey of the 15th edition of the Festival of Sufi Culture continues, until October 29, with thematic round tables and quality concerts that all pour into Sufism and its multiple convergences. This was the case for the third day of this event, which was distinguished by 2 round tables and 2 remarkable concerts.

After the meetings dealing with “Spiritual Alchemy in the great works of Sufism”, then that of “Philosophy and spirituality: from Al Ghazali, Averroes to Iqbal”, which brought together professors and specialists in the field, in the company from the president of the festival, Faouzi Skali, it was the turn of Indian music and dance, then the Samaa of the Tariqa Qadiriya Boutchichiya which were offered to the many music-loving public of this evening. First took place the special Diwali-Traces de Lumières with the Indian orchestra accompanied by a beautiful reading of texts by the artist Amal Ayouch and the Indian dance Kathak by Anuj Mishra and his students. “It was a new experience for me, as I expected something softer. While sometime after the show started, the dancing became more frantic. I found myself facing someone who was at the very beginning of a journey in the torpor of the soul. But, I continued my path towards the light, remaining calm throughout my reading of the texts, Hikam and Koranic verses”, specifies the artist Amal Ayouch.

It was a magnificent performance, where Amal Ayouch’s words were transformed into rhythms and beautiful Kathak gestures. Following this bewitching journey into Indian culture, a very famous Tariqa in Morocco took place, that of the Qadiriya Boutchichiya, with which the president of the festival has a very special relationship. Because, according to him, it was at the origin of his launching into the path of Sufism. “I had met Sheikh Sidi Hamza more than forty years ago and I have many memories with this Tariqa, through several stages and encounters. And I have the honor to be, currently, the disciple of Sheikh Sidi Jamal”, he adds.

So, the devotees of this Tariqa were entitled to Btihalat, Adkar and poems for the love of God and His glorification. Faouzi Skali continues in this regard that “this spirituality, which has irrigated our culture for centuries, has given rise to all these values which are dear to us and have been transmitted to us by previous generations.

These are values of humility, generosity, compassion, solidarity and spiritual love (Mahabba), considered as the royal door to enter into divine closeness”. And there, we find the general theme of the festival, “Science and Conscience” which meet, with in addition talent, poetry and love, then a beautiful public presence. “These meetings and exchanges between different cultures and spiritualities constitute this specificity of Morocco to be a land and a crossroads of religions and civilizations. Therefore, the peace and serenity in which Morocco bathes, thanks to HM King Mohammed VI, has allowed art and culture to flourish and shine in the four corners of the Kingdom”. And may this spiritual journey continue and win the loyalty of more and more music lovers.
