“More or less positive #12”, the fight against discrimination on the subject of AIDS: starting on 1 December with the “Contatto” exhibition in Sala Veruda

Thursday 1st December with the inauguration, at 12.00, of the “Contatto” visual arts exhibition, set up in the “Umberto Veruda” Room of Palazzo Costanzi and which is part of the awareness, information, prevention and fight discrimination on the subject of AIDS and emo/sexually transmitted diseases, the “more or less positive” event will kick off, now in its twelfth edition, which takes place in co-organization with the Municipality of Trieste.

For years, on the occasion of the “World Day for the Fight against AIDS”, the Department of Addiction of ASUGI, in collaboration with some consolidated partners of social cooperation and citizen associations, has been organizing a series of meetings of cultural and in co-organization with the Municipality of Trieste, with the contribution of the social cooperatives Amico, CLU, Duemilauno Agenzia Sociale, La Collina, La Quercia and the ALT association, with the support of Trieste Trasporti SpA and in collaboration with Afrodite, Arcigay, HeadMadeLab , Radio Fragola, SISM, Stolen Wordz and Volere Volare.

The event, which addresses the many aspects of HIV infection and other sexually transmitted infections, is aimed at the whole community, but pays particular attention to the youngest.

The week of events, which winds between Trieste and Gorizia, provides for a busy calendar of in-depth appointments with experts from the health, cultural and scientific world, with conferences and meetings, but also with book and film presentations, theater performances and music, with the traditional friendly football match between the Real Androna team and that of the Local Police of the Municipality of Trieste, with the mobile health unit for carrying out the HIV test and receiving personalized preventive information and with the information message traveling on city buses.

This year’s exhibition, entitled “Contact”, addresses the theme of rediscovered physical contact after two years of a global pandemic through the highly refined paintings of the Trieste painter Raffaella Busdon, but also examines the theme of the effects of psychoactive substances on our brain with the multimedia exhibition “Psychoactive” produced by the researcher Stefano Canali, coordinator of the School of Neuroethics of the SISSA-Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati of Trieste, composed of synthetic and captivating panels, videos and interactive stations.

Lastly, the “Sextagram” prevention campaign for very young people is presented in Sala Veruda, produced by CNCA, Anlaids, Arcigay, Cica, Gruppo Abele, Circolo Mario Mieli, Lila and the Community of San Benedetto al Porto, and conceived by communication expert Roberto Bernocchi , who will be a guest of the event in a public meeting.

The exhibition “Contact” by the Triestine painter Raffaella Busdon – writes Massimo Premuda in the presentation – represents the heart of this year’s “more or less positive” event, dealing with the theme of the relationship with our skin and the skins of others, and the rediscovered physical contact post social isolation. We start from the paintings of a very intense cycle of portraits of young people in a setting suspended between a reference to nature and a decidedly dystopian landscape. “Renaissance” thus presents boys and girls whose photographed faces, the result of selfies taken remotely in the period in which physical contact was impossible, split open, opening a breach towards pictorial representation, existences that are breaking up and at the same time regenerating in eternal, a moment of break from the newspaper that highlights our fragility underlined by the heavy numbers of Covid-19, the impressive figures of deaths and hospitalizations disseminated by the world’s press organs.

Thus we move on to the cycle “The ascended”, spiritual figures that aim at detachment from the world and inner perfection, made on transparent polycarbonate in which the skin of the people portrayed seems to detach materially from the body and physically fluctuate in a state of suspension in which the The skin envelope remains as the only representation or the last possible restitution of the human being.

But the one-man show finally closes on a note of hope with a solitary but very powerful work from the “Interactions” cycle, an intense embrace on etched iron, a technique which preserves in the material itself the real configuration of the contact between different agents, in which a delicate physical and bodily contact in a couple that everything could generate again.
