Milan – Wednesday 12 October 2022 at 21.00 at the San Fedele Cultural Centerin via Hoepli 3 / b in Milan, the docufilm is presented to the public Marco Garzonio: the double glance from Marco Manzoni, which tells the life, values, journalistic and psychoanalytic experience of a significant exponent of the cultural life of Milan. The gaze of the chronicler who gives an account of human events and the animator of the Civitas and the gaze of the psychoanalyst who investigates the mysteriousness of the human psyche. A unique transdisciplinary professional experience, a valuable teaching for the younger generation. A fresco from a historical era and, at the same time, a look at the possible future.
Milan – In a dense and passionate conversation with Marco Manzoni, Marco Garzonio – journalist, psychoanalyst, president of the Ambrosianeum Cultural Foundation – recounts the salient moments of his life and his original professional career. The childhood spent with the displaced family in the countryside to shelter from bombing aircraft during the Second World War, enthusiasm and the thirst for freedom and to know that they marked the years of economic and cultural reconstruction of Milan.
Milan – The film then tells the first steps of his training at the Catholic University under the guidance of the rector Giuseppe Lazzati, the experience of the press office of the first Council of the Lombardy Region chaired by Piero Bassetti, the important journalistic career had in some of the main newspapers of the country: Time illustrated by Guglielmo Zucconi, The day by Gaetano Afeltra and, finally, the “Corriere della Sera where he worked for 17 years. But the uniqueness of Garzonio’s professional and human path lies in the choice of having combined his journalistic work with that of Jungian psychoanalyst, symbolically holding together the gaze of the reporter who tells the facts of everyday life with that of those who investigate the mysteriousness of the psyche and human feelings. What the author of the docufilm called The double look.
The docufilm also tells the salient moments of Garzonio’s third important activity: that of animator of the cultural life of Milan and a leading exponent of Catholic culture. The decisive meeting with Carlo Maria Martiniarchbishop of Milan, whom he followed as envoy of Corriere della Sera the most significant moments of his pastoral work and the presidency, for 25 years, of the Ambrosianeum Cultural Foundation, one of the main places of civic and cultural confrontation in the city born in the climate of Milan rebirth after the Liberation. Garzonio dedicated numerous books to Martini (his is the only complete biography of the prelate: The Prophet) and a documentary film made with Ermanno Olmi, entitled V.edete, I am one of you.
The last part of the conversation with Garzonio is dedicated to the theme of human and spiritual values of our time: to Pope Francis and to the revolutionary thought in many ways present in his Encyclicals, to the relationship between man and Mother Earth, to the symbolic image, typical of Jungian language, of Anima Mundi. In other words, the place and the task of man in the world of the 21st century: no longer absolute lord and ruler of other living forms but – precisely as the most evolved species – wise and responsible guardian of creation.
