Hofesh Shechter defies borders, in a large-scale production, with nine singers, twenty baroque musicians and ten dancers. LIGHT: Bach dances celebrates the light, while in off, anonymous people who know their near death testify to their emotions. The sincerity of their reflections mingles with the cantatas of Bach, in a danced opera from which springs the desire for eternity and relief. Where dance, song and music flow from source and tell the beauty of life, in the acceptance of death.

Very spectacular, sometimes endowed with a strong political resonance (notably Uprising and Political Mother), his pieces proceed from a powerful rhythmic dynamic.

Conceived with the English opera director John Fulljameshis new creation –

LIGHT: Bach Dance – takes the cantatas of Bach as luminous sources of inspiration and confronts death to better celebrate life.

Combining dance, theater and music to a high degree of intensity, the result dazzles the heart as much as the mind.

A work as humble as it is grandiose, carnal and spiritual. A deep ceremony of consolation…
