Lady Diana’s brother publishes a sublime photo of his tomb in the autumn mist

Diana Spencer died in a tragic car accident on August 31, 1997. Today, her body rests in her childhood home in central England, on an inaccessible island.

In a morning mist charged with mystery and spirituality, the majestic Althorp residence appears, then the small private island where the deceased rests. Princess Diana. This is what the photos posted by Charles Spencer, the youngest of Lady Di, on Instagram this Monday, November 28, show. In caption: “Beautiful foggy morning today”. The Princess of Wales, who died in a tragic car accident under the Alma bridge in Paris, lived in the family residence from the age of 14 until July 29, 1981, when she married Prince Charles. This is where she was buried, a few days after her funeral on September 6, 1997.

emotional comments

Internet users were moved by the sight of these photographs. Some have soared lyrically: “This fog… a whispering wind!”. One person wrote: “Gorgeous. You are so lucky to be surrounded by such beauty and history. I wish your sister was alive to appreciate it as an older person” Another enthused: “Beautiful, serene and so atmospheric”.

However, some were not happy with the situation of the princess of hearts, lamenting the loneliness of the place. “I can’t believe the most iconic woman, the most beautiful woman in the world is here alone,” said a Charles Spencer follower. The tombstone of the mother of princes William and Harry is erected in the middle of the central island, inaccessible to the public.

Belonging to the Spencer family for several generations, the Althorp estate was built five centuries ago and extends over a gigantic land of 5300 hectares, reaching almost the size of the island of Manhattan (5900 hectares). The main building is made up of no less than 90 rooms, displaying an important collection of furniture and works of art.

Mausoleum

In the garden, you can not only see – if you get up at dawn – deer and other wild animals, but also a temple now dedicated to the memory of the ex-wife of the King Charles III. Which, unlike the tombstone, is sometimes open to visits from ordinary mortals. This mausoleum had been commissioned by his ancestor George John Spencer, “responsible for the Royal Navy at the start of the Napoleonic wars”. It will be necessary to wait for the summer to walk in the gardens of Althorp and come to meditate in front of the temple of Lady Diana.
