Juri Camisasca protagonist of the stage of FestambienteSud in Mattinata scheduled from 28 to 30 July 2022. An itinerary in music and spirituality, in the suggestive scenery of Monte Saraceno

“Peace and Renewables” is the theme chosen for the XVIII edition of the Legambiente national festival for Southern Italy. From 15 July to 4 August 2022 on the Gargano.

The original songwriter Juri Camisasca will be the protagonist of the stage of FestambienteSud in Mattinata to be held from 28 to 30 July 2022.

The multifaceted artist – a close friend of Franco Battiato, with whom he formed a long association – will hold the concert “Sacred Mount in Mystical Gathering” With the’Ensemble Calixtinus, musical collective that develops a suggestive repertoire of ancient music, in the wonderful scenery of Monte Saracenowithin the XVIII edition of FestambienteSud, the national festival of Legambiente for Southern Italy, which will take place from 15 July to 4 August on the Gargano and will rotate on theme “Peace and Renewables“.

The “priest” of sound – who at the end of the seventies took the vows to become a Benedictine monk, retiring to a monastic life for about eleven years – will propose a journey into music, spirituality and inner research in an almost unprecedented collaboration with a group of musicians who have always made music a vehicle of the spirit. “Mystical Gathering”, in fact, is not a simple concert but a distillation of experiences, a haunt of seekers, pilgrims who let themselves be carried away by the purity of the spiritual notes led by Camisasca, prophet of silence.

A concert “done with the feet”, since the territories touched by the music were actually walked by Giovannangelo De Gennaro, founder of the Calixtinus Ensemble. We are therefore transported from Mount Athos to the Greece of the Epitaph of Sicilo, from the Tremiti Islands to the Basilica dedicated to St. Nicholas in the land of Bari, from Istanbul to Father Komitas’s Armenia up to the sacred mountain of the Gargano and beyond, in a succession of real and imaginary images in which what really guides is the voice of one’s personal inner travel companion.

Together with Camisasca and De Gennaro there will be: Michele Lobaccaro (acoustic guitar and bass) author and leader of Radiodervish, Nicola Nesta (oud, medieval lute, choir), Sergio Lella (straight flutes choir), Francesco di Cristofaro (bansuri, duduk, gaita), Peppe Frana (robab, lavish), Giovanni Astorino (cello), Leo Binetti (plan) e Pippo D’Ambrosio (percussion).

To precede the scheduled concert by Juri Camisasca & Ensamble Calixtinus Thursday 28 July at 6.30 pmit will be there walk from saddle Cavola to Monte Saracenowith a guided tour that will start at 5pm.

Friday 29 July is scheduled for walk to the Abbey of the Holy Trinity on the top terrace of the Monte Sacro, which with its 874 meters of altitude is one of the highest peaks of the Gargano promontory. To welcome those present will be the interventions of Lucia Tancredi and Antonio Latinofollowed by the concert Ensemble Calixtinus Vox Feminae in “Symphonia Harmoniae Celestium Revelationum “the carmina written by Hildegard of Bingen with Giovanna Carone, Antonella De Fano, Serena Fortebraccio, Giusi Magnisi, Giovannangelo de Gennaro (medieval traverse and direction) and Nicola Nesta (lute).

Saint Ildegarda perceived the surrounding world, the visible and invisible world, the natural and the supernatural world, as realities continuously crossed by the most varied musical sounds. Everything resounds for her and everything, every being has a sound of her own, which harmoniously fits into the great symphony of creation and salvation. “Human song and music” – she says Hildegard – “are a resonance of heaven kindly granted by God, they are an echo of the original sound of God One and Three”.
