Insomnia premieres with cinema forum “Under suspicion: zokunentu” and “El niño del plomo”

Insomnia Teatro Condell will make two unmissable premieres of Chilean cinema that stress our identity, history and cultural conflicts. On Monday the 21st at 6:30 p.m. the cinema forum of “Under suspicion: zokunentu” will be held, the first documentary feature film narrated in Mapuzugun by director Daniel Díaz that reviews the artistic career of his uncle Bernardo Oyarzún, who, after having suffered a arrested on suspicion, he photographs himself as a criminal, revealing racism and discrimination against the Mapuche people in Chile. This event will also have the participation of the prominent Mapuche writer Daniela Catrileo, known for works such as “Río wounded”, “Guerra florida” and “Piñen”.

The director Daniel Díaz portrays through the plastic work of his uncle Bernardo Oyarzún how art takes the role of denunciation, in this case of racism and discrimination against brown skin, and how this discrimination has historically affected the Mapuche people. .

“Under suspicion: zokunentu” is a documentary narrated in the Mapuche language, which travels through the works of the renowned contemporary artist Bernardo Oyarzún from the perspective of his nephew, Daniel Díaz, who proposes a reflection on identity, spirituality, territory and social injustice in contemporary Chile.

“On the other hand, “El niño del plomo” refers us to this archeology finding in which the body of an Inca child who died on El Plomo hill as a result of a sacrifice by his people is found, this fact is mixed with a vacation trip for a family in contemporary Chile, where it seems that the mountain once again demands its tribute.
