Big live concert from Montpellier
The traditional Grand concert of the Fête de la musique de France Télévisions will be broadcast live from the Esplanade de l’Europe in Montpellier, accessible free of charge to the public, subject to availability. From 8 p.m. and for more than 3 hours, Garou and Laury Thilleman will welcome on stage Marc Lavoine, Nolwenn LeroyClaudio Capéo, Dadju, Ofenbach, Kungs, Axel Bauer, Alvan and AhezJuliette Armanet, … Held in Paris to promote their new album and rehearsals for their concert at Bercy on June 24, rappers Bigflo and Oli, initially announced for this exceptional evening, have finally canceled their come.
Angèle, Biolay, Parcels or gospel music in Paris
From 8 p.m., the legendary Olympia hall opens its doors to the public, subject to availability, for a unique evening broadcast live on France Inter and hosted by journalists Rebecca Manzoni and Laurent Goumarre. An anniversary evening to celebrate music with a five-star programme: Angèle, Pomme, Parcels, Franz Ferdinand and Benjamin Biolay will follow one another on stage until midnight.
With a capacity of up to 200 singers and musicians, the Total Praise Mass Choir is the largest gospel formation in France. Recognized internationally for having accompanied on stage big names in American gospel such as Kirk Franklin or Shirley Caesar, she will take over Place de la Bastille in the 4th arrondissement of Paris from 6 p.m. for an exceptional concert combining harmony, power and spirituality.
The RATP joins the party by offering various activities and attentions to its passengers. Twenty groups and artists will accompany Parisians from the afternoon in 20 stations and stations of the network.
Tribute to Coldplay in Essonne
For several years, on the occasion of the Fête de la Musique, Quincy-sous-Sénart has been inviting, in the absence of being able to bring in the originals, “tribute bands” to perform on stage. These groups pay homage to their idols by exploiting their repertoire in a more or less faithful way. After The LOVEBEATLES in 2018 and Tribute Abba Story in 2019, it’s Cover Play’s turn to take over the Maison Verte stage, from 8:30 p.m.
Between two weekends in hell in Nantes
In the Nantes region, the atmosphere will be electric for the 40th anniversary of the Fête de la Musique. While Hellfest festival-goers are barely recovering from the first weekend of concerts which took place in stifling heat, they will be able to stay in the bath in Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire with three days of Hell’Break. For the Fête de la Musique, the Nuage Station will host concerts by rock bands Diindaar, Parpaing Papier, Rust Theory and Jello Biafine. On the side of the Hangar à Bananes, Quai des Antilles, the Cantine du Voyage celebrates its reopening with an electro evening, hosted by DJ Rebond until 2am.
Invitation to travel and electro in Marseille
In Marseille, women will be honored for this anniversary edition of the Fête de la Musique. The Africa Fête festival, which opens its 18e edition in the 1er district, hosts the women’s choir Ker Maloya. An invitation to travel that will take the people of Marseilles to the heart of Reunion, to discover Maloya singing. On the Canebière side, travelers will be transported to Latin America and the Caribbean with a 100% feminine evening. After a bodily and rhythmic initiation to the various Afro-Caribbean dances, the Divas del Perreo will deliver, from 9 p.m., a DJ set with Latino, Afro-Caribbean and urban sounds.
Change of atmosphere on the Borély beach which hosts the Fun Radio Live Marseille. On stage will follow one another from 7 p.m. DJs Lucas & Steve, Topic, LUM!X, The Avener and Europa (Jax Jones and Martin Solveig).
Rap and techno in Bordeaux
No concert on the Place du Capitole this year, but the inhabitants of Toulouse will not miss opportunities to celebrate music for all that. Place Ahmed Chenane, in the Izards district, north of Toulouse, Sadé, Chamalove and Takt, three promising rappers will perform from 6 p.m. at the invitation of Tactikollectif. “These young artists will offer us all the palettes of current rap, mixing raw flow without concessions, hovering trap, jazz sounds on the piano, and texts charged with emotions. A perfect combo to get together and celebrate music»rejoices the collective.
The Plein Phare collective, which has been organizing electro and techno evenings in the Toulouse region for 9 years already, will make the people of Toulouse dance again this year. From 6 p.m., the techno artists will follow one another on the Place de l’Europe, then the evening will continue until dawn at the Rex in Toulouse.
Seven brass bands and 50 singers at Bordeaux
The 33S’export collective, made up of seven brass bands, performs from 4:30 p.m. in Bülher Park, then in Bordeaux Maritime and on Parliament Square from 8 p.m. On the program: disco music, funk, French song, swing, unbridled groove, there is something for everyone. The National Customs Museum welcomes the 50 singers of the Chœur Pizzicati-Annie Moraud for a performance of classical music from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. They will revisit the musical heritage of the XVIe century to the 21ste century, through an a cappella repertoire from all countries. And to understand how a choir works, rehearsals are open to the public from 6:30 p.m. on the Place de la Bourse, in front of the museum entrance.
180 young artists and Guinea in Lyon
Nearly 180 young artists, singers, dancers and instrumentalists take over the Place des Terreaux, emerge from the main door of the Town Hall, appear at the windows and on the balcony, dance to the sound of the chimes, in a festive and offbeat show in ten paintings. Songs from Benjamin Biolay, film music, Vivaldi or even an orchestra of cans are on the program.
The FIDAR TEÏGUIRA brings back the sounds of the world in “The biggest street of music”. The evening begins with an open stage animated by Super Trad Percussion, a group of Guinean origin. This moment of discovery will be followed by the Bat’Afrika, a group of 15 percussionist musicians mixing African and Latin rhythms accompanied by their dancers. Singers and dancers will follow one another throughout the evening and to close it all, the Bal Poussière, a sort of intoxicating musical ritual, will bring the public back to the paths of Africa.
Traditions and contemporary music in Brest
The accordion, percussion, violin, flute and guitar ensembles parade on the Sadi Carno square before Sked takes over from 8 p.m. and puts traditions in the spotlight. From 6 p.m., the team of Astropolis, an electronic music festival, will set fire to the Jardin Kennedy, with sets from the Bside association, the Versatil collective and Sonic Crew. At the port, the Carène concert hall team imagined a current music scene from 7 p.m. with the groups Sunday Gone, Among Blue, David Nothing and Kerlin. Also worth noting is the wanderings of the double-decker bus and its brass bands and DJ sets in the city center of Brest until 10 p.m.
Electro and Brazilian heat in Rennes
If all styles are of course in the spotlight for the Fête de la musique, electro is carving out a big place this year. On the Esplanade de Gaulle, the Soundclimat, Percept, Brume and Lena collectives will follow one another on the turntables. Moving from house to more underground techno, the Osmoz collective will get the audience moving. For dub, go to Place Sainte-Anne and for frenzied sets, Square Hyacinthe Lorette awaits the collectives Frangines & Co, S’il Te Plaisir, Flou and Kepler.
Freshly renovated, the Portes Mordelaises are about to wiggle their hips with an evening to the rhythm of Brazil. The kick-off will be given at 7 p.m. by the musicians of the Toucouleurs association who will stroll with their batucada from Place Sainte-Anne to the Portes Mordelaises. The public will then be able to discover the richness of Brazilian music with choro, pagoda, Afro-Brazilian percussion and songs and even capoeira demonstrations.
