A choice, that of the Christian Catholic Confraternity of the Federician Knights Templar of Calabria, aimed at welcoming in the “cradle of the Federico II Prize” those Men and Women who have distinguished themselves for merit and ethics in their relationship with society, in the same way in which did Frederick II, a man of exceptional talent, who welcomed in his court those men and women capable of finding, in the most avant-garde themes, lymph and nourishment, and transforming it into a universal cultural and scientific center destined to be remembered in the memory of posterity like a happy island.

An innovation, thanks to that free, eclectic and anticipatory mentality, which since then has guided the evolution of human thought and the advancement of society.

During the ceremony, a synthesis of the professional and human growth paths of the two recipients of the “Federico II Prize” was then carried out.

Fr Maurizio Bloise is currently a priest at Villapiana Center, Spiritual Assistant at the IRC Office (Office for school and school pastoral care) in his Diocese; Delegate in Calabria for Mother Teresa International Foundation (MTIF); Honorary Member and Spiritual Father for the Delegation in Calabria of the Pope Clement XI – Albani International Foundation.

In 2015 he was awarded the Don Pino Puglisi Memorial Prize at Montecitorio, in the presence of the highest offices in the state.

Since 2021 he is the Cultural Coordinator of the Parliament of International Legality for the Calabria Region.

It is no coincidence – reads the press release – that his award ceremony falls precisely on the thirtieth anniversary of the death of Judge Paolo Borsellino, who today would be proud to witness the effort made to unite the intellectual, professional and social forces, and, precisely from this point of view, the role for the legality of Don Bloise is placed, referring to our land, in which he infuses roots of spirituality and, at the same time, of human justice.

As regards, on the other hand, Dr. Francesco Ferlaino, who graduated in international relations from Unical, at the age of 24 held the position of Head of the study center of the national office of Confindustria Romania in Bucharest.

In 2015 he moved to Brussels where at that time he was appointed by the European Commission as the Italian national contact point for the European Union Research and Innovation Framework Program – Horizon 2020, and, at that time, he was the youngest in Europe to cover that role.

Since then, a succession of high positions, including the appointment of Head of the Brussels office for the National Institute of Nuclear Physics.

Since 2022 he has held the role of head of the European Affairs Office of the Polytechnic University of Marche in Brussels, actively contributing as an expert to the dialogue between the Italian institutional system and the European counterparts in the field of Research and Innovation.

In this very delicate historical moment that we are going through – continues the note -, characterized by the pandemic phase and conflicts, the European Union must maintain a leading role in research and innovation, strengthening the dialogue between international partners in order to be able to face the great challenges worldwide.

Well, the activity carried out up to now by Dr. Ferlaino abroad follows this direction, and he deserves the credit for having achieved very important results in the field of cooperation, solidarity, research, innovation and conflict prevention. .

The ceremony ended with the delivery of the plaques to the two awarded by Pina Sturino, who read the following motivations: To Don Maurizio Bloise, “for his constant research and sharing of his priestly today, and for his ability to nourish, with his spiritual organism as a strong and wise man, every branch of life, thanks to his hunger for legality and his thirst for truth “.

To Francesco Ferlaino, “for his brilliant diplomatic career, which builds a bridge of innovation between Italy and Europe, through an incisive interinstitutional communication action in the fields of science and research, and thanks to a strategy of convergence able to leverage the world “.
