Concerts, dance, races, theater and more to celebrate the Dead in Edomex

Live a great experience in Edomex at the Festival de las Almas 2022 in Valle de Bravo. We tell you all the details and how to get there.

Talking about the celebration of the Day of the Dead in Mexico represents a trip to our traditions and culture; where all the spaces of social coexistence are dressed in color and filled with unique aromas coming from the cempasúchil flower.

In the State of Mexico, this tradition in which spirituality predominates, is also exalted through a cultural festival full of magic and mysticism.

We are talking about the Festival of Souls 2022, organized by the state Ministry of Culture and Tourism, which offers quality activities that will take place for nine days (from October 28 to November 5) in the Magical Town of Valle de Bravo.

This festival, which was born 20 years ago, aims to preserve ancestral customs that, as a millenary legacy, allows hearts to be filled with pride for belonging to Mexican land.

For this 2022, the aim is for young people and children to feel part of this party and to know that they are the soul that gives life and essence to this meeting.

In addition, the public will be able to enjoy the most representative of music, theater, dance, literature, cinema, plastic arts, crafts, sculptures and, to reaffirm the exchange of creativity and thought between the five indigenous ethnic groups of the entity and contemporary society, it also rescues rites, gastronomy, dances and beliefs that have forged our history.

This year’s billboard includes more than 100 activities and shows. Photo: festivaldelasalmas.com.

How to get to Valle de Bravo?

If you travel by public transport, go to the TAPO terminal (next to the San Lázaro metro) and take a bus to Almoloya de Juárez, which takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes with an estimated price of 160 pesos. Then from there take a taxi to Valle de Bravo with an estimated price of 330 pesos. A total average of 500 pesos and with an estimated time of arrival of two hours.

If you go by car, head south west, either along Paseo de la Reforma Avenue, Constituyentes Avenue or the Supervía, until the junction with the Mexico-Toluca Highway. Follow this path and you will reach Lerma; just at kilometer 20 you will see the bypass exit to avoid entering Toluca, thus saving you travel time.

Now you must go to your right, to the north, taking the deviation to Guadalajara-Morelia, a colonial jewel. At kilometer 26 you will find the Xonacatlán booth, which you must cross following the Atlacomulco-Temoaya direction. Already at kilometer 66 you will see the next booth, that of La Hortaliza, continue straight and take the lane that indicates the Zitácuaro-Valle de Bravo-Avándaro direction.
