Maria Safaryants the tenor participated in the solo violin Roman Arndt of the Mariinsky Theater and the bass Hovhannes Nersesyan of the Opera and Ballet Theater of Yerevan in Armenia and minister of the Orthodox Church.

The next day Chiara Taigi she replicated the concert singing accompanied on the piano from M ° Anastasia Kostenko in the majestic Theater of the Dvorets Kul’tury Zheleznodorozhnikov in St. Petersburg.

Chiara Taigi he wanted to maintain the commitment, as for all previous festivals, to attend the opening of the season as a guest of honor, receiving a warm welcome, singing in two sold out concerts and broadcast on national television.

The concert took place in an atmosphere full of emotions, with a high cultural level thanks to the presence of international authorities and personalities, a perfect fusion of great soundtracks and romantic music, emotions and spirituality, as well as bringing the great classics and the Opera by Italian, Russian and French composers, on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the birth of
Michel Legrand.

The Artistic Director Maria Safaryants at the beginning he demonstrated the cultural welcoming atmosphere with a historical phrase “In music there is only one symbol that is the same for everyone: the treble clef” and at the end of the concert, surprisingly, he performed a duet with Chiara Taigiplaying the violin in “Love Theme” from the film Nuovo Cinema Paradiso, receiving a great final ovation from the audience.

Chiara Taigi sang in the concert program of Michel Legrand two great historical successes, “I will wait for you” (in fr. “Je ne pourrai jamais vivre sans toi”) from the film The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (in fr. Les Parapluies de Cherbourg, 1964) award-winning piece and Oscar nominee in 1964 and “The summer knows” from the film That summer of ’42(in Eng. Summer of ’42) winner of the 1972 Academy Award for Best Dramatic Score.

He later sang “O mio babbino caro” from Gianni Schicchi by Giacomo Puccini, “You know it o mamma” from Cavalleria Rusticana by Pietro Mascagni, “Love Theme” from the film Nuovo Cinema Paradiso composed by Andrea and Ennio Morricone.

A historical and particular note concerns Michel Legrand and the Festival,
Legrand was personally present as a guest at the Festival of Palaces in St. Petersburg in 2018 on the occasion of a concert dedicated to him as a French composer of Armenian origin. On the occasion of the concert he expressed the desire to do a concert with his music in Mikhailovsky Castle, but unfortunately he passed away the following year in France. Keeping memory, the desire has now been translated into reality, a tribute due to the great music for the cinema and a thank you for all the great emotions that Legrand’s music has managed to arouse in the public.

The location of the mysterious and fascinating Mikhailovsky Castle was particularly striking Legrand, especially the beautiful Georgievsky Hall was also a spiritual place in the past, it was the chapel inside the castle. In addition, for the concert, in adjacent rooms, various listening rooms were set up where the public was able to watch via videowall, with a full house, as if they were in the stalls and live.

Thanks to the Artistic Director Maria Safaryants for the impeccable organization, the logistical support and the multi-instrumental artistic contribution, for all the special attention paid in this special edition of the Festival.

Thanks to M ° Anastasia Kostenko and Consort for the great artistic level and all the interpretative and personal contribution, in every situation.

Thanks Majestic Deluxe Hotel for the high-level hospitality, in addition to the unforgettable attention of all the people who took care of Chiara Taigi during the travel period.
