Funambolika, the international festival of the new circus produced by the Ente Manifestazioni Pescaresi, continues on July 5 at the Teatro d’Annunzio with an unmissable event that will once again transform the city of Pescara into the most ancient and widespread art capital in the world, that of circus. As an absolute preview from France, the new acrobatic creation that promises to be the European reference for the coming years arrives: “Esquive” (from the French “dodge”), vertiginous ballet on elastic platforms and oblique walls, a hypnotic show in which the performers they walk on the walls and throw themselves into the void. It is a project born during the lockdown, on the theme of risk and fall, which combines high acrobatics, contemporary dance and electronic music. Supported by the French Ministry of Culture, co-produced by five permanent theaters across the Alps, “Esquive” accepted Funambolika’s invitation to hold the first international date in Pescara, even before arriving in Paris. The idea for the project comes from Gaëtan Levêque, an athlete-choreographer who has made the trampoline his specialty for 25 years. For this show he has put together six top-notch acrobat-dancers from the best French schools, creating a surprising scenographic machine that will invade the entire stage of d’Annunzio, reaching a height of ten meters in some moments.
