Bogre tells a long journey in the footsteps of Catari and Bogomìli, heretics of the Middle Ages spread from the Balkans to Western Europe. Starting from a memory linked to the use of the word bogre on the part of his father, the director Fredo Valla and his crew embark on a journey across four lands (Bulgaria, Italy, Occitania, Bosnia) in search of cultural and religious relations between the two movements. Bogre rediscovers a story “eradicated from the history books” and starting from a heresy that spanned the European Middle Ages, he proposes a reflection on our recent past marked by persecutions and genocides such as the Shoah, and on the present time with phenomena of intolerance that do not seem to fade .

Bogre it is a story of ideas, religions, encounters, people, powers. A film in five languages (Bulgarian, French, Occitan, Italian and Bosnian), a coming and going and starting again to answer questions, reveal stories that have fallen into oblivion, make room for differences, enhance spirituality and distant and nearby cultures, help thinking to be critical. The coming and going, moreover, was a typical movement of the Bogre of the Middle Ages, those heretics forced to flee to live, and share their ideas, in the European space long before Europe was united.

A curiosity that binds this film to the town of Castiglione Tinella is the choice of the director Fredo Valla to use footage related to a historical reenactment that was held in Monforte several years ago and made by Vittorio Manzo, a Castiglionese character who has collected a heritage documentary thanks to his passion for cinematography.

Admission to the evening is free, subject to availability.
