Customers who come from everywhere

It is in his large property that he carries out his activities as a magnetizer. A Marianne stamped with the mention “Honor to our mayor P. Dulong” decorates the garage door. In the car park, many of his customers are already waiting for him. They come from everywhere: from Marseille, Var, Toulouse, sometimes even from Belgium or Switzerland. The exorcist does not treat the Covid, they all wear a mask over their mouths. Many of them are there for prayers (priced at 25 euros) supposed to soothe pain, improve their family life or their business. Some for more mystical affections: bewitchment, possession… In the waiting room, some are even regulars, who praise the charisma and benevolent aura of their host.

Sitting at a desk in a dark room, laden with the heady smell of candles, statuettes of the Virgin Mary and portraits of Jesus, Pierre Dulong explains that he was inducted as an exorcist by the Gallican Catholic Church, a religious association not recognized by the Vatican (read below). A demon hunting session costs 45 euros.

Meanwhile, a woman, who has just come for an exorcism, sits down on a doctor’s table in the corner of the room. He then puts on his white alb, lights candles, and begins to recite psalms in a mixture of Latin and French while touching his patient. She screams, struggles, her hands clenched in a vacuum. After a quarter of an hour, the lady sits up and gradually catches her breath.

“You have to be humanist, listen and love your neighbour”

“Separate my two activities”

An activity which according to him does not prevent him from being a politician. “It’s like in spirituality: you have to be humanist, listen and love your neighbour. I have not been mayor for four terms for nothing! exclaims the healer, hastening to add: “But you have to separate the two activities. »

Then he continues, handling the verb with a certain ease: “I am pragmatic and open-minded, not dogmatic. In my practice as in politics, I discuss with everyone, if the patient is rebellious, I am rebellious, if he is RN, then I am RN. The goal is to bring people together. There are various tendencies in my municipal council, but we don’t do politics, it would divide! »

However, Pierre Dulong has values. He began in politics with Force democrat, a centrist party, then joined the Union for French Democracy, led by François Bayrou. “I got a few patients to join.” Following the regional elections of 2003, a political dispute with François Bayrou broke out, and the mayor of Ligardes left the party, taking with him 280 members of the Gers, as the daily mentioned at the time “Release”which referred to another article on the UDF of Gers “a question of magnetism”.

Today president of the departmental federation of the National Center of Independents and Peasants of the Gers, he is considering running for the next senatorial elections.

“Even elected officials come to my office!”

In the waiting room, a client confides: “It’s true that in a big city, his activities could cause him political harm. There are people who would bother. Pierre Dulong believes he paid the price. He recounts what he analyzes as “a set-up”: “The day before the senatorial elections, the electors all received posters presenting the candidates. On mine, there was written “exorcist”, while I present myself rather as a healer. I was grilled, exorcist, it’s scary, they could have put liberal profession. I knew I had lost in advance. In politics, many do not believe in what I do. But even elected officials come to my office as patients! »

The inhabitants of Ligardes themselves admit it, it is not common to have a mayor practicing such activities.

Could it be his mystical talents that got him elected? A local resident smiles: “No, he is above all a child of the country! But it’s true that it’s a plus to have him as mayor. Another explains: “He radiates, he has a mystical aura, we feel that he is connected with certain powers. He does everything for the well-being of his constituents. »

“They manage the town hall as a family”

To have more time to manage his practice, Pierre Dulong appointed his son first deputy. A decision that does not fail to annoy former local elected officials: “They manage the town hall as a family. He uses the status of mayor as a showcase for his activities”. Because his presumed powers do not protect him from opponents, willingly commenting on the fear of the use of black magic by their first aedile. Accusations that the person qualifies as “defamatory”, uttered according to him out of “jealousy” for not having been elected, arguing that he uses his powers to “fight evil”. Pierrette, another resident, seems in any case delighted with her mayor: “I had lymphoma and he helped me get out of it. He never charges the people of the village for his services. And then he manages his commune well, he had a beautiful village hall built and the village is clean. In politics, the bewitchment is often located at ground level.
