The City with Culture Book Fair arrives at Pueblo Libre

The Peru Economic Culture Fund and Ciudad Librera, in alliance with the Municipality of Pueblo Libre, organize for the second time the Book Fair in the Capital of the Bicentennial “City with Culture”.

Thus, the district of Pueblo Libre continues with the cultural promotion with this event that will provide a program with recreational activities for the whole family and a wide range of books.

For this reason, more than 40 bookstores, publishers and distributors will offer various book titles in the children’s, youth and general public genre; Among them, Editorial Gato Descalzo, Open Books Peru, Grandifer Bookstore, Red Flowers Bookstore, 1984 Books & Records, Studio Gunsle, Happy Science, Moraima Education, Tierra Uno, LANCOM, Deporvida Bookstore, La Solapa Bookstore, Margels, Tommy Distributor, Zona book, Editorial Automata, The Bonfire and others.

It should be noted that admission is free and goes until December 11, 11 a.m. at 9 pm in Parque Candamo, Av. Sucre, block 3, Pueblo Libre.

Likewise, during the days of the fair, cultural activities will be carried out, in which well-known local writers, cultural managers and artists will participate who will carry out book presentations, concerts, storytelling, workshops, conversations, poetry recitals, among others.

In addition, there will be a free download area for ebooks or virtual books, with the aim of democratizing access to books and reading. And for the smug at home there will be a play area and ceramic painting area where they can have fun coloring their favorite animated character and take it home.

Additionally, Peruvian ventures will be added that will offer merchandising for booklovers such as book covers, polo shirts, bullets, magnetic separators, literary candles, moussepads, bags, jewelry, accessories, records, among others.

The fair will reward those who buy at the participating stands with a raffle for two baskets of books to be held on the last day (Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.).

Among the various activities that will be presented at the book fair in Pueblo Libre are the cosplay contest for children by Día del Cómic (Saturday, December 10 at 5 pm).

This December 4, the departure of the great Peruvian writer Julio Ramón Ribeyro is remembered, and the Ribeyro Club has prepared two conversations that will take place on Thursday, December 1. The first is entitled “Ribeyro, 28 years after his departure” (6 pm) by Pedro Arriola and “Los dichos de Luder, by Julio Ramón Ribeyro” (6:45 pm) with the participation of Sebastián Fernández (moderator). , Elizabeth Monopoli, Silvia Gómez and Lesley Costello (panelists).

During the cultural programming, well-deserved tributes to Victoria Santa Cruz, Yma Súmac and Chabuca Granda will be carried out. Last Sunday the 27th, “Victoria para la canción criolla” premiered at the fair, a documentary directed by Francisco Caro. The tributes continue on December 4 from 5 pm with a conversation by Alberto Rincón, author of the book “Las palabras de Chabuca”, published in 2020, and which brings together various interviews with the composer of ‘Paso de vencedores’.

The third date of these tributes organized by ¡Vale un Perú! (¡VUNP!), is dedicated to Yma Súmac with a dissertation on the famous Peruvian soprano by Wili Jiménez (¡VUNP!) and then a musical tribute with the group Crónica de Mendigos (December 11, 8 pm).

On Saturday, December 3, the book “Inventing God” will be presented Psychology of belief and the rise of secular spirituality by Jon Mills, Canadian philosopher and clinical psychologist (5 pm); and the musical event “Multidisciplinary Collective Authors of Kaos” by Aurora, Eloalatrista and Caminantez (8 pm).

Among the events for families are “Opening a book to dance” activity for children carried out by Michi Miau and Lesly Espinoza (Sunday, December 4 at 3 pm); and “Readings and poems that give us joy”, a storyteller performed by Professor Cóndor by Editorial Fabulinka (Thursday 8 at 4 pm).

For the last weekend

We will have a conversation between booktokers: “The book, merchandise or cultural transmitter?” by Vania Uribe Miljanovich, Gianfranco Hereña Rodriguez and Mario Cano (Saturday 10 at 7 pm). In addition to the workshop on reading aloud and creative writing in cartonero books by Caroll Castro from Ucumari Cartonero (Sunday 11 at 5 p.m.).
