Teresa Riott, from lesbian in ‘Valeria’ to narco in ‘El Inmortal’: “I like to take risks with a sexy point”

Theresa Riott not stop About to premiere series –‘The Immortal’, a Movistar+ thriller which promises to be the ‘Narcos’ of the Castellana and is based on the story of ‘Los Miami’, the gang that controlled cocaine trafficking and Madrid’s nightclubs in the 90s-, and with the third season of ‘Valerie’ Already in the oven, the actress has given a complete turn to her professional career and her life. She though she comes from afar.

The first contact of Theresa Riott with our magazine was a long time ago, when she was only 13 years old. She then was in Ibiza, on vacation with her father, in the same hotel where one of our reports of fashion. An unforeseen event prevented one of the models from going to the photo session and she, who at that time had breakfast On the terrace with her father oblivious to everything, she took his place without hesitation when the stylist offered it to her. “I had never done model and I still have a couple of photos of that. It was the first magazine I appeared in, a coincidence, but I remember it fondly.”

The good eye of that stylist That he noticed her is indisputable, but although she had never been photographed for a magazine, Teresa already had a good resume in her backpack. “When I was only one year old I made my first adfor Nestlé, with my mother, and since then I have done advertising, theater… It has always caught my attention communicate through my body and my emotions. As a child I went to ballet classes, theater…, to all kinds of activities“, remember.

As soon as he could, when he turned 16, he enrolled in a professional school in Barcelona, and later studied for a degree, advertising and public relations, in case I needed a plan B (“If I hadn’t been an actress I would have dedicated myself to events, I would have been wedding planner“, he points out). But in all that trajectory he never left his musical theater classes and when he graduated he made the jump to Madrid, to study at the school of Juan Carlos Corazza, for her one of the best in Europe.

Determined to make a living as an actress, for five years, while still training, she was forced to do so with all kinds of jobs, from hostess in restaurants to a shop assistant in ToysRUs or Decathlon…, “everything for survivehe explains. “Also small roles in ‘The one that is coming’, ‘Cuntame’, ‘Medical center’… Until he was lucky enough to come across Blanca Surez and the job that would change her life: “A beauty video from the brand Guerlain where you see me playing your boss. One person liked me a lot and decided to see me for the series ‘Valeria’. And that’s where it all started,” she says.

It has never stopped forming, but the change as a result of that was overwhelming. “I went from doing almost nothing to shooting every day with a main character. It was a gift of project. I had some books behind me and a large community that was waiting for the series. I was also lucky enough to play the only character that is different from the one in the books. Nerea in the series represents the LGBT community, and for me it has been a pride, I have learned a lot. It’s a project I’ve been enjoying for three years, with a women’s teamdirected and performed by women who have become real friends, and it shows on the screen”.

As he says, appearing in Valeria, which has just recorded its third season, was “a professional step from giantAnd on a personal level it forced him to relocate a lot of things. lonelyI like to be alone, pick me up… And of course, now it’s time go out into the world; It’s been quite an experience,” he acknowledges.

What was it like going out into the world you speak of? How does someone lonely handle fame?
I take it as one more part of my work. Being an actress doesn’t just mean going to the shoot and going home, it includes a very wide range: having to go to your own premieres, being at events, in the media, participating socially… I’m lucky that I like: I love fashion and I take advantage of any opportunity to find myself, try and take risks with everything, with looks, makeup, clothing… I also receive a lot of affection from people, it is not an invasive treatment. Everything is new, they stop me on the street and congratulate me, and that comforts me a lot, fills me up and makes me want to continue.
That you love fashion is attested by the last Cannes festival, where you were one of the best dressed. How do you prepare a red carpet? Do you choose the look?
I get along very well with my stylist, I can say that she is my friend. We have been together for three years and have built a relationship. From the beginning we wanted to create a base of who I am and what I want to express, everything has a line that goes with my personality. We are looking for something elegant but youthful, and we like to take risks with a sexy touch. Within all that, she proposes and I choose. At first she brought me 15 suits, now only five, because we are getting to know each other. Comfort also comes into play. We decide and put him to sleep, and the next day we see if she was a good decision. Let’s go into detail a bit, that the shoes, the jewelry, the clutch… that everything expresses something and has a meaning.
Speaking of fashion, have you ever been told that you look like Sarah Jessica Parker?
Yes, and it makes me very fond. I have also done a series that is a bit like ‘Sex in New York’, but in Madrid. Even sometimes in some photographs they try to give me a bit of a Sarah Jessica Parker look… I hope they make a series or a movie where she appears as a young woman and they can call me.
And who would you like to look like when you grow up?
I would love to get to the sole of Meryl Streep’s shoe, who is a woman who works absolutely with her heart, with truth, with sensitivity… It would be a dream to get to something of what she does.

In addition, Teresa loves the image they convey and how they are able to transform into their characters. Margot Robbie, Cate Blanchett Y Charlize Theron. Without going that far, he is impressed by the work he has done lately Barbara Lennie and the risks you take Carmen Machi. That’s why the role she expects is also one that puts her “in risk, as an actress and as a person,” she adds. “Make me leave saying I don’t even know what I’ve done. I would love to get into the depths and get things out that I never thought could get out, especially accompanied by a direction that is by my side to create something together different“.

And which directors would those be?, we asked him. I like how they work Paco León, Amenbar, Carla Simón… And of course I would love to work with wes anderson either Almodvar… Sure!”.

Just as clear is who he wants as co-stars: “Alex Garciawho is a great actor from whom I have learned a lot, and people who give me tools and make me grow, for example Edward Fernndez Y scar Jaenada, who is my childhood idol”. The first, star of ‘El Inmortal’ as leader of ‘Los Miami’, already knows him well.

La Rubia has been the only character in the series that has existed in real life. How have you prepared it?
With documentation, news… On an aesthetic and language level, from Faria, which is also from the 90s, and from other series that took me back to that time. I have also seen a lot of fashion. I have been inspired by Pamela Anderson, Anastasia, Julia Roberts… in the images of that time and, above all, at parties and in the last years of Studio 54, seeing how they danced… It has been very juicy.
Nerea and La Rubia are two characters that seem opposites, one cool, the other warrior. Do you have anything in common with any of them?
Of course. It’s true that the first day it seems not, but of course, since you spend three months with the role and you do it through your body, you end up putting it on. With Nerea, I came into contact with the lack of ability to express my feelings and emotions, staying cold and answering from my head, being a flip flop and saying things suddenly are very hard for the other person. Also in being very mental and organizing…, I like to organize my life and also that of others. The blonde looks like the polar opposite. She has a frivolous aspect that I sometimes identify with, but she is very intelligent, observant and chameleon. And Teresa Riott is too.
Which one did you like playing the most?
What a compromising question. I have a special affection for La Rubia because she has been a very big transformation, at all levels. To start with physically, because of the looks she wore, the makeup, the hairstyle… she made me feel like someone else and that makes me passionate, looking at myself in the mirror and not recognizing myself. I wanted to do something like that, dark, change the voice and the body. I have enjoyed it like a child.
Nerea puts him out for Malasaa; to la Rubia, power. What do you put on Teresa Riott?
Get things and finish them. Have goals, go for them and once I’m there, until the end. I am very persevering and very ambitious. It can be either getting the dress I’ve seen on Wallapop or the role I’ve auditioned for or being the most glamorous at the party. Although they are small challenges, I like them.
We would find Nerea in Malasaa, and you, where would we have to be for a weekend if we wanted to meet you?
I am also pure Malasaa, you don’t finish it. You will find me on the terrace of the Frida, I like to get some fresh air. As Nerea, I have learned a lot, during these three years, I have known many bars and restaurants that I had not seen in my life. And I like to repeat.
Is this how you disconnect? How do you handle stress?
I connect a lot with my spirituality, I meditate. I do yoga and my meditation at home in the morning, and then if I can I also go to class. Now I am discovering the singing circles, places where mantras or songs related to spirituality are sung. I really like nature, going on excursions and being with my dogs; I love walking with them around Madrid.
You sing to manage stress, what is the song that always lifts your spirits?
Lately ‘Guille assassin’, by C. Tangana. That song lifts my spirits.
And are you superstitious? Any mana on the set?
I like to put on my shoes already on stage, once I’m on the spot. It’s silly, but… And I always take a couple of deep breaths before I get into the sequence. I don’t have many special things, but I can’t leave the house without drinking my coffee, doing a couple of sun salutations and giving my dogs a little kiss. Then let it be what God wants.

On Teresa’s bedside table, in addition to ‘Blood Wedding’, the book she always rereads, two others that seem to define her: ‘The inside out’, by Mariano Peyrou, and ‘I sing and the mountain dances’by Irene Sol. “I am a person shy Y retarded who knows how to put himself at the service of situations and who works very well socially. also creativebut i actually like the Calm downthe honestyI respect myself a lot and I try to respect others and always tell the truth, although sometimes I make some comments that… I am very daring for some things”, he assures. That is why, he says, “the TV vibrates me very strongly, because I have an internal rhythm frantic and the pressure makes me growing up“. A woman of contrasts.
