In the event, people who were part of the group in different settings will be combined, a manifesto will be read and then there will be a musical entertainment by the actress and DJ, Sonia Moura.

‘Teatro Negro: Shakespeare strikes back and ends badly’ will premiere next Friday, June 17, under the direction of Selva Fox, founder of the company.

With this work, the group reveals the magic that has moved it since its creation: the teamwork of people who come together to throb with the same passion for art and for life.

The activities are sponsored by the Municipal Fund for the Promotion of the Performing Arts. Support: Kafa Tostadores, Dance Academy Evolution, Nutri Natalia Chaparro, Frutika, LY Media.

HISTORY

Nhi-Mu Teatro Aéreo was born in 1997, with Selva Fox, Patricia Masera, Karina Sanabria, Nelson Arce, Sonia Amarilla, Juancho Álvarez and Pablo Meilicke. His first work with the harness technique: Viaje 1, marked a before and after in the national scene. Later, and in subsequent works, the team mutated and Fátima Fernández Centurión and Roberto Cardozo joined.

Pioneer in the use of climbing harnesses, the group has the Aerial Theater as its hallmark. His handling of Performance, the strong presence of live music and the inclusion of circus modalities add elements when building challenging artistic events.

Throughout 25 years, Nhi-Mu has created around 13 works, 7 large-format theatrical actions and more than 300 performances. She worked with more than 500 Paraguayan professionals (actors, musicians, dancers, performers, visual artists, photographers, film and TV directors).

In 2008, the group began to transmit the aerial technique with the characteristics that Nhi-Mu imprints on it. Since then, new collaborators have been added to the shows and work.

More than 600 participants have passed through the workshops to interact with the space –located in 25 de mayo 1087-, which has become an important point of dissemination and cultural, artistic and social activism.

Nhi-Mu’s work is the result of a leap into the unknown and the accumulation of different artistic experiences. He has persisted over time through constant adaptation and innovation of it. This search is part of the group’s vision of expanding the horizon of its members and the general public, through collaborative and multidisciplinary proposals.

In each work or intervention, a dramaturgical construction is sought that stimulates the sensory, the cognitive, the visceral. For this, artistic macro ecosystems are built that break the spatial conventions still in force in Paraguay. This causes a bond with the public that involves intense emotional and physical interactions.

Human relationships, female empowerment and existence are the recurring themes in the staging and mark milestones. Los Viajes (1-2-3) put the theater with its feet in the air on everyone’s lips. The Shakespearean trilogy ignites the magic of black theater by reinterpreting the classics. Kuña Poderosa – with the participation of multiple sectors, shakes public spaces, resounding with the cry of mobilized women in the world.

Nhi-Mu Theater with its workshops, works and from its alternative space weaves networks, trains artists, brings together creators and drives innovation, which makes urban culture throb.

It is part of the NETWORK OF CULTURAL SPACES OF PARAGUAY, and of the RED LISTENING (Alternative Cultural Spaces in the Historic Center of Asunción). For its work, the group has been supported by the Goethe-Institut International Aid Fund for Cultural and Educational Organisations.
