This world forum for plural and multidisciplinary thought is convened by the José Martí International Solidarity Project, which since 2003 has been supported by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization; of the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI), and other international bodies.

The International Conferences FOR THE BALANCE OF THE WORLD have become important academic spaces in which hundreds of professors, social activists and intellectuals in general from all latitudes of the Planet meet every three years to reflect on the main contemporary problems.

On this occasion, this world meeting, which will be the culmination of the great international day for the 170th anniversary of the birth of José Martí, Apostle of the Independence of Cuba and universal thinker, also intends to be a continuity of the World Conferences Dialogue of Civilizations and an extension of the debates of the World Congress of Humanities held in Liège, Belgium, under the auspices of UNESCO and the International Council for Philosophy and Human Sciences.

We call on all people of good will, intellectuals, artists, politicians and activists to participate; to educators, writers, journalists, social activists, members of solidarity movements, political, union and religious leaders, members of non-governmental scientific, feminist, youth, peasant, environmental organizations… moved by principles of justice and equity.

We wish to convert this forum of plural and multidisciplinary thought into a scenario where we contribute to raising awareness in world public opinion to create awareness against the evils that today afflict Humanity and put the very existence of our species at risk.

Through commissions, panels, workshops, symposiums, youth spaces, magisterial conferences, special interventions and other modalities of reflection and debate, fundamental themes will be addressed, as befits an event of this nature and magnitude.

The Meeting will develop a comprehensive agenda that will include:

  • Experiences derived from the COVID-19 Pandemic.
  • The dialogue of civilizations and cultural diversity.
  • The ecosystem and its defense.
  • Role and challenges of social movements.
  • Need for solidarity in the contemporary world.
  • The urgent struggle for peace and nuclear disarmament.
  • The problem of water in all its aspects.
  • Risks and hopes of information and communication technologies (ICT).
  • Fake news, ethics and social networks.
  • Responsibilities of journalism in the present situation.
  • Cultural politics and national identity.
  • The arts and letters, and particularly poetry, in the formation of a spirituality and a culture of resistance.
  • Multilateralism as an indispensable mechanism for world balance.
  • Analysis of the new correlation of global forces: players on the rise
  • New paradigms for regional integration in Asia, Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Sustainable development and social equity.
  • Hunger and food security.
  • Education and human rights in the 21st century.
  • The fight against all forms of discrimination.
  • Gender equality in its true and real expression.
  • Unions in the midst of neoliberal globalization.
  • Religious diversity, ecumenism and spirituality.
  • The problem of drug use and drug trafficking.
  • The role of youth and the new generations: today and tomorrow.
  • The fight against terrorism in all its forms, including State terrorism.
  • Construction of a participatory and effective democracy.
  • Need to respect international agreements in favor of peaceful coexistence.
  • Justice as the sun of the moral world.
  • The right to self-determination.
  • Importance of cultivating the historical memory of the peoples.
  • Contributions of Latin American thought, -from Simón Bolívar and José Martí- to the most relevant contemporary thinkers.

GENERAL INFORMATION

VENUE AND LANGUAGES: To be held at the Convention Center in Havana, Cuba, the official languages ​​of the Conference will be: Spanish, English and Portuguese, while in plenary there will also be simultaneous translation in French and Russian.

PRESENTATION OF WORKS: Participants in the Speakers modality must register their work with the Organizing Committee before November 30, 2022, with the title of the paper, the author’s information and a summary of no more than 100 words (Arial 12 ) specifying what audiovisual medium is required for its exhibition.

MEMORIES OF THE EVENT: At the end of this forum, a book will be published in digital support to be distributed in universities and in the wide network of Contacts of the José Martí International Solidarity Project. For this reason, those who register as speakers are asked to deliver their full papers to the Organizing Committee.

CREDITS: Delegates registered as participants or as speakers will receive an accrediting diploma with the corresponding academic credits, according to international standards.
