“Entre Ríos”, from the group Otra de mí, arrives from Cabaña to open the Visiting Cycle at La Mercería on Saturday
Because “good works have to circulate” the La Mercería hall in La Plata offers itself as the host of Visitante, a theatrical cycle that will show proposals from different regions and countries during June and July. The inauguration will be on Saturday, from 9:00 p.m., by the hand of “Entre Ríos”, a Buenos Aires play written and directed by Gabriela Calcaterra that is presented as a hilarious camping adventure where humor is offered as a softener to reflect on aspects of everyday life.
The second work of the Otra de Mí company, “Entre Ríos” is defined as a satire of modern life and the search for spirituality based on a story with sincere, human and transparent characters.
With performances by Ana Barletta, Carola Picasso, Ernesto Albores, Ernesto Berardino, Fernando Ritucci, Gimena Romano Larroca and Mariano Rojo, it follows a group of people who are seen gathered at a campsite in the interior.
Various reasons led them to that place, some to accompany their relatives or friends, others for simple snobbery. They are not the ones interested in facing their own depths: that will be done by those who went to do that experience of spiritual retreat that lasts four days under a tree in the mountain. They do not go up, they will simply wait for them as a support group while they enjoy the facilities of “Entre Ríos”, the campsite where everything has its rules, to the point of disbelief.
It is a choral text that proposes outdoor settings, nature and poetic images where each character is constituted as a thread in tension that weaves a plot dominated by overwhelm, a subjugation that goes beyond the climate: snobbery, misunderstandings, no Unspoken places have a lot to say in this material that addresses different themes, from marital crises to loneliness, passing through the meaning and meaning of being a woman, seduction, motherhood, our backpacks with earrings and our brands, convictions, violence, love and more.
With the collaboration in direction and choreography of Lara Cuffia, the work includes original music by Ernesto Albores and Gastón Tajes, recording technique by Cristian Segovia, scenery and costume sketches by Javier Vázquez, graphic design by Romina Salerno. THE CYCLE
After this function of “Entre Ríos”, the room directed by Claudio Rodrigo, located at 1 between 36 and 37 (on the other side of the road), will continue to show, within the framework of this self-managed cycle, works and casts with different aesthetics, and genres ranging from comedy, to drama and even shadow theatre.
El Visitante will continue on Saturday, June 11 at 9:00 p.m. with the presentation of “Los invisibles de siempre”, a proposal that will come from Santa Fe: in this text by Claudio Gotbeter, Clarita is a seamstress and visits the cemetery every Sunday, to make a soliloquy with the dead. Urbano, for his part, is the caretaker of that cemetery. And it all starts when one Sunday, Clarita misses her Sunday appointment.
The proposal will continue on the 18th with a performance of “La comedia de la tierra”, a work from Tandil written and directed by Javier Lester Abalsamo: Es Roma, 1545. Sebastiano and Eumarco, street artists, risk their lives acting and trying to change the new scientific paradigm created under the Copernican Revolution.
From Havana, Cuba, “Peaces know how to swim” will arrive with a performance scheduled for Saturday, June 25 at 9:00 p.m. In this piece, by Abelardo Estorino, an actress with setbacks that drive her to move forward, a bottle of rum , a broken telephone -“The human voice of Cocteau”- a body that tries to make its way between its reality and its fiction. Alainne Pelletier acts and Cecilia Arcucci directs.
While on Sunday at 8:00 p.m., “Branches -drama on three desks-” will be offered, a proposal from La Plata. De Lisandro Fernández, under the direction of Perico Lascano, proposes an office where three employees find unexpected news. His future is put to the test, and his abilities too. They will need a lot of cunning to achieve their goals. Meanwhile, they receive a surprise visit that will turn everything upside down, until they undress their own miseries, and place them on the brink of the abyss.
In July the Visitor will show on Saturday 9 at 9 pm “FIN”, a co-production between Argentina and Brazil of shadow theater. There will also be a place for the La Plata play “Historias de concert”, which will be offered on Saturday, July 16. And, for the closing, on Saturday, July 23 at 9:00 p.m., the presentation of “The Last Suicides” is expected.
