This space for dialogue aims to reflect on authorship in the processes of collective creation and on how the traditional hierarchy of Western theatrical creation leads to a more horizontal logic in the forms of creation of Colombian theater.

Juan David González Betancur has a Doctorate in Performing Arts from the Universidade Federal da Bahia (Brazil), a Master’s in Literature from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Colombia) and a Master’s in Dramatic Art from the Universidad de Antioquia (Colombia). The day continues at 8:30 p.m. in the Popular Theater Hall with the presentation of the play “From the Miter to the Birri, a witness letter” by the Detripacorazón Community Theater Group of Santa Fe. It is a popular play suitable for all public carried out by the first community theater group in Santa Fe, made up of more than 25 actors on stage and of all ages.

A letter is not just a letter, a piece of paper. A letter is a journey through stories, through different lives, through magical moments and others, the painful ones, the difficult ones, those events whose narration sometimes acts as reparation or catharsis. A letter is a traced path of words and lives.

The Detripacorazón group presents an arduous work collected by the group, woven from testimonies of inhabitants of the neighborhood adjacent to the Miter railway station. The oldest and youngest of the place contributed their word. With the same material from which memory and everyday life are made, Heartbreaker built collectively and fictionally, crossed by a witness letter, a living history of the neighborhood, emotional, partial, contradictory, small and giant like each heart that inhabits it.

On Saturday, August 6, El Birri receives two proposals. The shows start at 8:30 p.m., but from 8:00 p.m. there will be a buffet and bar service.

Firstly, “La Descentrada” is presented, a one-man show by Melisa Malatesta that is based on the story of the tragic week by Salvadora Medina Onrubia. Savior in an endless fall towards memories. Between fragments, writings and words she is coming out of the pits of oblivion.

Then, it will be the turn of the Multisensory Audiovisual performance installation “Las Virgenes Travestis” by the group Deseo Fluido from Santa Fe. It is a multisensory audiovisual performance installation that presents the processes of contemporary myths of transformation, enabling a new discourse and inviting reflect on current spirituality and the deconstruction of heteronormative female bodies. The construction of new contemporary virgins, anthropomorphic, marikas, monstrous and stripped of stereotypes is shown. This work puts into action ritual forms that give life to a pagan altar, using image and video collage techniques, video mapping, installation of objects, aromas, music, a combination of ancient and modern lighting and artist performance.

In the performance, the devotion to the exhibited virgins is interpreted, generating a dialogue with the video, questioning the audience, performing ritual practices with non-standard elements, singing, dancing, among other actions. Thinking about the construction of contemporary subjectivities where sexual, religious and social dissent is visible, allows us to break with the binarism, the essences, the stereotypes and imposed patterns.
