Tell us about your new book Wishes are not just words.

– Is a novel inspired by the life of Adriana Abascal on her roots and how from Miss Veracruz she became Miss Mexico, then she went to Los Angeles and got married. It serves as inspiration to create this character that is not really her, but her fantasy and of course, talk about magic in Mexico.

How did you meet Adriana and what is your connection with her?

— I interviewed her many years ago and speaking we became very close friends, we were both living in Los Angeles, we had many things in common, we went to see exhibitions, to read tarot cards, then she had a girl and so did I, who They became friends and one thing led to another We already have a friendship of 23 years.

In addition, they are well connected by their roots because Adriana has lived in Spain and you know Mexico well…

— Of course, that has united us a lot, having that uprooting of your own roots and then taking root in other places and at the same time that you know them, you love those places. The two of us have a very fluid conversation, let’s say in the same elements, we let ourselves be guided and that enriches us.

Tell us about the most interesting things or things that you admire about the life of Adriana Abascal and that you have somehow captured in this book

– I am very surprised by your intelligence. Adriana He seems to me to be a person who has not stopped being true to himself even though he has changed places and fallen in love several times. She is a great mother, housewife and he always tries to take his Mexico wherever he goes, She is a woman that I greatly admire for being so generous with her friends.

Why read your book about Adriana Abascal?

— Because you are going to identify what it means to be a woman being far from your roots, not being accompanied by a family but creating your own, a woman who has had to fight against a series of vicissitudes in life, face complicated situations, Knowing power from within, she has experienced it a lot, she understands it, but she has not stopped being herself, she has not lost the essence that is what, after all, has made her survive in such a complicated environment. Also, the story is accompanied by the magic of Mexico, because she always does her tarot, her card games, let’s say she does spells and all that kind of stuff. The power surrounds him with a spirituality that is very interesting.

How does Adriana feel that you have written a book for her and it is precisely her friend who did it?

—I was writing it as I went without sharing it with her, I asked her some questions, but it is a bit her fantasy and mine, it is not her life as it is, but it is an inspiration, she knew I was doing it and that I did not want go into intimate aspects.

Was it easy to write a book about a person you are familiar with?

— At first it was hard for me to understand why she wanted to do it and I talked about it with her, then IThe idea was to reflect that passion he feels for magic, for the essence of being a woman and not losing sight of who you are when you live outside your countryhow hard it can be, especially when you are involved in such a difficult world.

Do you think there is a wrong image of Adriana Abascal?

– It seems to me a very interesting woman because she is criticized a lotmany people speak ill of her, they consider her a climber and in reality, I think they are gratuitous insults because she is not known, she is very generous, a person that men have attached to her more than she has to men, anyway , any story must be looked at from two perspectives.

Is she an inspiration to other women?

—Of course, because when it is presented for the first time in Veracruz the only thing she had was her magic and her nana, who came from Coatzacoalcos and had taught her to trust her spells, she had no ambitions, everything that came into her life was because it was there for her.

Narrating Mexico in this work, what caught your attention the most?

— What made me fall in love was discover the magic of this country and how it is so linked to all the feelings of the Mexican, there is magic in everyone, in their way of speaking and expressing themselves, everyone knows it and they know what it means, I loved that. It is intrinsic to its essence and I found it wonderful.

Who is Adriana Abascal?

Originally from Veracruz, was unveiled at the Señorita México pageant in 1988 of which she was the winner, later she represented Mexico in Miss Universe 1989, remaining as fourth runner-up. At 19 years old, she being one of the most beautiful women in the country, began an affair with tycoon Emilio Azcárraga Milmo El Tigreowner of Television.

In 2001 she married Juan Villalonga, main shareholder of the Spanish company Telefónica, and with whom he had three children. From then on, he is the focus of attention in gossip magazines in Spain. Thanks to his knowledge in fashion, he decides to write the book Una Mujer, Cada Mujer.
