Age will have no hold on you! In any case, no visible grip… The period is perfect to think about offering you a quality anti-aging treatment. Of course, you can find reputable “anti-aging” products in most pharmacies and even in big box stores. But they are often more expensive than truly effective and some of them include components that are questionable to say the least. The good solution ? Don’t hesitate to prepare your own anti-ageing treatment for which you control both the cost and the components selected for their effectiveness and harmlessness, without giving in to effectiveness. To fight against the signs of aging on the face, seaweed is a formidable secret weapon. Rich in antioxidants that fight the free radicals responsible for skin aging, these vegetal martins also display an interesting content of nutrients and minerals. Algae therefore play a decisive role in the renewal of skin cells. In general, seaweed treatments allow, if they are of good quality, to restore elasticity and tone to the skin and to naturally reduce wrinkles on the face.

My natural recipe – Anti-aging mask with spirulina

Spirulina is a green, spiral microalgae which is today considered by the World Health Organization (WHO) as “ the best food of the 21e century for humanity “. Composed of more than 70% protein, it is super rich in nutrients (it is even one of the foods of plant origin that contains the most iron, which is important for women who often suffer, sometimes without the iron deficiency), amino acids, vitamins, minerals, trace elements… Often presented in the form of a food supplement, it can also be successfully integrated into an effective and beneficial anti-aging mask.

  • Pour 1 tablespoon of argan oil into a thick glass or porcelain bowl (neither iron nor plastic) and add the contents of one capsule of powdered spirulina, one capsule of fucus (a brown algae, available in organic and natural product stores) and a capsule of lithothamnium (a white algae with strong remineralizing power, also available in organic and natural product stores).
  • Mix the components, then apply the preparation to the face, avoiding the eye area.
  • Leave on for ten minutes, then rinse thoroughly with clear water. Effect “ youthful look » assured !

It is wonderful as it is for dessert. But it also works wonders in tarts, jams, mousses, ice creams or sorbets, tiramisu, carpaccios, cakes…: strawberries are “the” summer fruit. It is even a (delicious!) fruit that is enjoying ever-increasing success: each Frenchwoman or French eats an average of 2.6 kg of it per year, for a total national consumption of around 110,000 tonnes. If you have a garden or even a balcony, now is a good time to plant strawberries, provided you live in a cool climate region (in other regions with a milder climate, you can wait for the first rains at the end of summer). If they are installed in the ground, strawberries must be protected from the voracity of birds: cover them with an ad hoc net. On the terrace or the balcony, install your strawberries in pots. It’s super simple and even fun.

Strawberries on your balcony – My planting tips

Several varieties of strawberries like growing in pots, on the balcony, with a preference for high-yielding remontant strawberries (supported by a trellis). Consider the varieties ‘Rabunda’ (sweet fruits that accept heat well), ‘Mount Everest’ (perfect for smaller spaces, with dark and elongated fruits), ‘Charlotte’ (fleshy and melting fruits)…

  • You have the choice between many containers: classic pots in terracotta or wood, hanging baskets, raised squares… the choice of containers depends on the environment (the style of the house), the space available… Place the pots in a sunny position.
  • Prefer a well-draining substrate (the strawberry plant hates excess water). A 3 cm layer of gravel, clay balls or shards of pots will ensure the drainage of the bottom of the pot. Give your strawberries a fairly rich planting soil or a mixture of garden soil with added sand, leaf mold or compost.
  • Let the pots soak for several minutes before installing the plants. The collar should be level with the ground surface. Fill with potting soil and tamp well, then water thoroughly. The waterings will be frequent enough so that the substrate remains humid until the total recovery of the plant.
  • Warning: the strawberry plant needs space: allow 15 to 30 cm between each plant.

Good to know – Flowers, Leaves, Roots or Fruits: each type of plant has its days

Gardeners favoring organic, permaculture and biodynamics are very attached to lunar influences. They closely take into account the phases and movements of the Moon as well as the constellations to carry out the work in the garden, the vegetable patch or the orchard.

During its orbit, the Moon passes in front of a dozen constellations (or groups of stars): Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. These zodiac constellations are divided into four major categories.

  • The earth constellations: Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo which correspond to the Root days. When the Moon passes in front of one of these constellations, its influence is very clear on the roots of plants. In the vegetable garden, plants whose roots or bulbs are eaten (beets, carrots, turnips, root chervil, parsnips, radishes, celeriac, potatoes, horseradish, scorzonera, Jerusalem artichokes, salsify, etc.) should be preferred.
  • The water constellations: Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces which correspond to the Leaf days. When it passes in front of a constellation of water, the Moon exerts a strong influence on the leafy parts of plants which generally contain a lot of water. The leafy plants whose stems and leaves are mainly eaten should be preferred: spinach, chicory, watercress, dandelion, sorrel, lamb’s lettuce, arugula, rhubarb, cardoon… Not to mention the aromatic plants whose leaves are eaten: basil, chives, dill, chervil, mint, savory, parsley, sage, thyme…
  • The air constellations: Aquarius, Libra and Gemini which correspond to the Flower days. The Moon passing in front of one of these constellations strongly influences the flowers. So now is the time to take care of flower beds, edible flowers (nasturtium, edible violet, edible meadowsweet, etc.), hedges bordering the pleasure garden or vegetable patch and flower vegetables: cauliflower , artichoke, cardoon, broccoli…
  • The constellations of fire: Leo, Aries and Sagittarius which correspond to the Fruit days. When the Moon passes in front of one of these constellations, its influence is very strong on the vegetables whose seeds or fruits are eaten (eggplant, gherkin, melon, cucumber, pepper, tomato, pepper, watermelon, squash, etc.), but also on aromatic plants whose seeds are eaten (fennel, coriander, etc.) and fruit trees and shrubs (quince, citrus, apricot, strawberry, raspberry, vine, hazel, etc.).
