The program of the third day of Vigiliane Feasts between choirs, Palio dell’Oca and the veni creator in the Duomo

TRENTO. Third day of Feste Vigilianethe event in honor of the patron saint of the city of Trento organized by S. Chiara cultural service center with the collaboration of ProLoco Historic Center of Trento for some of the most popular events.

After the Historical Parade and the Court of Penance, the day of the long-awaited has finally arrived Palio of the Goose on the banks of the Adige. But before discovering which crew will triumph, you can choose from a rich range of proposals that will enliven the city and suburbs of Trento.

The program of Sunday 19 June starts at 9 with the Farmer’s Market and activities for families, created in collaboration with Coldiretti Trento, which will propose its stands along via Belenzani and in the courtyard of Palazzo Thun. And from via Belenzani all that remains is to take a few more steps and reach Piazza Duomo for the Corte dei Mastri created in collaboration with the Trentino Artisans Association.

In the afternoon the Organ Walks proposed by the “Renato Lunelli” Organ Association. At 4.30 pm, the organ walk to the west will start from Sopramonte and will see the participation of Stefano Rattini (organ). Afterwards, the ‘walk’ will continue in Sardagna with Simone Vebber (organ), ending in Baselga del Bondone with the organ performance by Tarcisio Battisti and the Polyphonic Choir of Calceranica al Lago.

The Federation of Choirs of Trentino, on the other hand, proposes an afternoon in the company of some protagonists of the Trentino choral singing: at 5 pm, in the Abbey of S. Lorenzo the voices of the Povo “Voci in Accordo” Choir and the Antares Polyphonic Choir of Taio will resound. From 6 pm, on the other hand, in Piazza Lodron the Choral Sant’Elena di Cadine, the Chorus of Campotrentino (Trento) and the Trentino Alpine Chorus of Gardolo will perform.

And after having made a necessary stop in the S. Martino district with the emotions given by the Caravan of artists (in collaboration with Anima Mundi Creativity Factory), all that remains is to immerse yourself in an experience absolutely to try with the Dark on the road (AbilNova Cooperativa Sociale – formerly Abc Irifor del Trentino), trying the products of Antica Erboristeria Cappelletti, completely immersed in the dark.

It is useless to deny that on Sunday 19 June the wait will largely be turned to the Palio dell’Oca. Revived and re-proposed in a modern key, the exciting raft challenge is back along the banks of the Adige river between the representatives of the districts and suburbs of Trento. There are 47 crews competing, including last year’s winners, Spini of Gardolo, each made up of six costumed raftsmen, who will have to pass nine skill tests in the shortest possible time. Among the novelties of this year there is the reintegration of the docking, which in the previous edition was instead removed. Finally, as always, the Palio dell’Oca will see the support of the 2nd Engineers Regiment of the “Julia” Alpine Brigade which will provide the assets for rescue in the water, cooperating in synergy with the permanent fire brigade Trento and with the Union of voluntary firefighters of the Trento district, and under the coordination of Trentino Wild – Rescue Project. To comment on the race there will be Francesca Merz and Simone Villotti.

At around 8.15 pm the Adige River will again be the protagonist with one of the most anticipated moments of the Vigiliane Feasts, the Tonca. From the bridge of San Lorenzo, the judge who presided over the Court will look out from the traditional tower to read the much feared sentence. Who knows who this year will be symbolically immersed in the cold waters of the Adige river.

The evening of Sunday 18 June will continue with many appointments between music and beauty. At 20.30 there will be the Sacred music concert in the Church of S. Francesco Saverio (in collaboration with the Regional Festival of Sacred Music), which will see the participation of the ensemble Cappella Rupertina and Guido Pellizzari (harpsichord, organ and direction) in an evening dedicated to Motets for Cardinal Madruzzo. At the same time, the setting of the Capovolto Theater in Piazza Cesare Battisti will offer an evening in the company of some protagonists of the Trentino choral singing, in collaboration with the Trentino Choir Federation. There will be the Voci Ignote Vocal Group (Trento), the Roen Choir (Don) and the Highlight Choir (Pergine Valsugana).

And at 9.30 pm we will move to the Piazza Fiera Arena for the election of Miss Vigiliane Trento, in collaboration with Soleo Show: 15 girls will compete for the coveted title that will lead the winner to be the godmother of the Vigiliane Festivals. The evening, presented by Sonia Leonardi, will also see the participation of the television noise maker Alberto Caiazza. At the end it will finally be the turn of prize giving of the raftsmen.

A full program of events that will culminate at 9.30 pm with an unmissable show, which after six years will return to inhabit the extraordinary “stage” of the Trento Cathedral. From the Cathedral of S. Vigilio (Duomo) the Veni creator. Trento and the Council: history, music and images, a project whose artistic coordination is entrusted to Cristina Pietrantonio.

The altar of the Trento Cathedral will then be transformed into a stage, the nave will be an audience, the austere roof that is concealing the presbytery from view to return it restored will become a theatrical backdrop for an event of history, spirituality, music and video that will tell the Council from an unusual perspective of edutainment.

The historical, cultural and economic premises that led to the Council, shaking Europe in the sixteenth century and conditioning its structure to date, are told by the historian Carlo Andrea Postinger in an exciting and spectacular multimedia conference enriched by the presence of the actor Alessio Dalla Costawhich presents witnesses of the time, from the voices of the singers of Vocal group Laurence Feininger accompanied to the organ by Stefano Rattinifrom the lights of Marco Comuzzifrom the precious iconographic research that has selected images, fresco cycles, maps, iconography, old prints and documents relating to the Council of Trento and the historical period.

The video sets, created by Stefano Benedetti, will accompany the public on an immersive and emotional journey in virtual environments, specially reconstructed, in the dynamic sequences of battles acquired and reworked from historical films in order to revive the settings and atmospheres that characterized that period. A choral work, curated by the director Cristina Pietrantoniowhich saw the light in 2016 requiring many months of work and which owes a lot to the availability and precious suggestions of Monsignor Lodovico Maule, dean of the Cathedral Chapter and many institutional (such as the Diocesan Museum of Trento and the Buonconsiglio Castle) and private entities (including the Lunelli family), which have made themselves available to support its realization.
