ADVERTISING AND ITS PARADOXES: UNIQUE, BUT NOT RARE

Anyone will have happened, when watching TV, to come across, on the screen, beautiful and fascinating women who, in truth, make it clear that they owe this, not so much to Mother Nature but to a soap, a perfume or a jewel, unique, certainly as the protagonist of the commercial states. Too bad, however, that the soap is sold for a few euros in supermarkets: therefore far from unique (but rather cheap); perfume is accessible to any woman, from the perfumer downstairs; and the jewel, perhaps slightly more expensive, is still a purely industrial product, manufactured in millions of copies. So here is the paradox of the title of this article: unique but not rare products! But that’s not all: famous film actors, for a well-known industry, produce hand-made croissants and biscuits one by one in a mythical farm! Not to mention the very industrial canned tuna always proposed by well-known actors as a recipe for exclusive 5-star restaurants. As well as cars, obviously produced by the millions on assembly lines, which open roads for ineffable freedom, between ice and mythical bridges, deserts and urban and extra-urban roads. Maybe with some images of a football match, a contemporary icon (apparently necessary) overflowing with new gladiator heroes, to identify with, except that they are professionals without any flag who play only for those who pay them the most. Apart from the all too obvious psychological scam unmaskable even by any amateur sociologist or by any person of common sense, let’s see what yoga says about it.
‘It is evident the strong will to impose the belief that the realization of personal success, joy and freedom and uniqueness, for example, does not lie in working on oneself, in the light of a spiritual path, but in possessing and using objects. Smiling and winning politicians take advantage of this to rob you of everything, body and spirit. And Italy the world is falling apart. In truth, even if we still need a razor blade, a car or an aftershave or a good breakfast, it is not true that these industrial products, while useful, for our daily needs must also trace a destiny for the spiritual ones. Truth, uniqueness and freedom, for example, certainly do not pass through the soap for clothes. Better that Pinocchio starts studying the ABC of the spiritual path and cuts the bulky ropes of the fox cat and Fire Eater and with the help of the fairy and his own SE (Atman, soul) he finally becomes a real man in flesh and blood. and no longer a mere puppet. Yoga is useful in this regard, but not from any preconceived recipe: to each his own paths: we begin to remove everything that is not part of our true self, and it is already a good first step finally, then, as Lorenzo Cherubini says. that is Jovanotti in one of his many beautiful songs is also important to travel and not just the destination. We begin to do our best and “the rest goes without saying”
