The La Goulette Fish Festival is back in force

During a press conference held on August 04, 2022, the director of the Festival du Poisson de La Goulette, Moncef Chaouchi announced that the 2022 edition will start on August 10, 2022 and will last three days at the Karaka de La Goulette in partnership with the municipality of La Goulette, in the presence of the delegate of La Goulette, the councilor and the general secretary of the municipality, the representatives of the Tunisian Red Crescent and many other guests.

With a budget of around 35,000 dinars from the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the municipality of La Goulette with the contribution of certain economic players in the region, the fish festival continues to pursue its cultural and culinary course with sure steps to guarantee the quality of the shows and those of the gourmet flavors in the restaurants in order to be able to welcome more than 100,000 visitors in a single day.

Under the slogan “The city of culture…the city of tourism…the city of coexistence and tolerance”, the summer program will include various performances. there will be 3 big shows at the Karraka, shows and street entertainment (Carnival of Paparoni and Show of majorettes and giant dolls on August 10), as well as a culinary festival in the restaurants of the region.

La Goulette is known for being a meeting place for Tunisians and for its festive atmosphere. Thus, the three evenings will satisfy all age categories of visitors.

The first evening of the festival will begin on August 10 with a Sufi song show “Takhmira” hosted by Mourad Bacha and the musical show “Ocheg Denya” by Abdelhamid Bouchnak and inspired by the Ramadan series “Nouba”. As for the second evening, it will be hosted by Tunisian guitarist and singer Sofien Safta on August 11. Finally, the third session will be brightened up by a show for young people “Torok” on August 12.

In this context, Chaouchi indicated that this festival has a family connotation and comes to enhance the characteristics of La Goulette and with about 85 restaurants, it will create economic and cultural mobility in the region.

Chaouchi also underlined the presence of several guests at the inauguration evening, such as the former Minister of Tourism, René Trabelsi as honorary president of this festival, the Secretary General for Maritime Affairs, Asma Sehiri, the Governor of Tunis, Kamel Fekih, as well as some foreign ambassadors.

The municipal councilor added that the objective of this festival is to make the city of La Goulette a “Hub” for family tourism, in particular with quality food at an affordable price in a secure and lively place.
She also pointed out that the control and monitoring of cleanliness, the quality of all seafood products offered to visitors and its prices, will continue throughout the festival.

It is important to mention that the month of August promises to be very festive for this city which is ready to host the Brises de la Méditerranée festival, the El Karaka festival and the Goulette fish festival.

It was also decided to honor the late Mohamed Ali Sfaxi, known to be the spiritual father of instrumental music and the first trumpeter in Tunisia, and this during the closing ceremony of the El Karaka festival-2022 edition. Without forgetting that Muslims, Christians and Jews will gather on August 15 as every year in La Goulette around the “Madonna of Trapani” to celebrate this procession.

Handicrafts will also be exhibited at the entrance to Karaka on August 25. All these events aim to revitalize cultural life and entertainment for the inhabitants of La Goulette and these visitors but also to revitalize the economic cycle.
