The 100 most influential people of 2022: here are the actors and directors in the Time ranking

Over the weekend, the list of the 100 most influential people in 2022 according to Time magazine appeared online. There are also many actors and directors with exceptional endorsements, let’s see who they are.

There are many artists that the magazine Time he chose in his traditional list of the most influential people of 2022published in the print edition of the end of May but appeared online at the weekend: from Andrew Garfield to Pete Davidsonfrom Zoe Kravitz to Jeremy Strong And Zendaya and each choice is accompanied by an article, generally written by a celebrity, in honor of the character chosen. Below you will find the complete list of the actors who have been chosen this year and their “supporters”:

The actors entered the list of 100 most influential people according to Time

The list doesn’t end here, because besides the artists there are the Innovatorsamong which two other well-known names appear:

  • Zendayasubmitted by Denis Villeneuve
  • Taika Waititi presented by Sacha Baron Cohen
  • Andrew Garfield, Taika Waititi and Zendaya: the motivations expressed by famous colleagues

As you can see there are many illustrious names that have motivated the presence in the list of these actors. Since translating all of them takes too much time, we focus on what they wrote about three of them, because they are real declarations of love towards the chosen characters, starting with Martin Scorsese on Andrew Garfield:

Choosing the protagonist for my adaptation of Silence it wasn’t easy: it was a tough role at all levels. When Andrew Garfield came to audition, I immediately saw that he understood Rodrigues’ character. He gave his all to the role. In preparation, he even completed the Ignatian retreat, a truly remarkable feat. As we started working, I realized that Andrew could get to any emotional level the story required, sometimes instantly. I developed a sense of confidence and trust in him that I have found all too rarely. Often, when we were preparing to shoot one of the many emotionally difficult scenes Andrew and I had painstakingly worked on for months, I found myself confronting him, seeing that he was totally immersed in the moment, and letting him go. Sometimes I just listened. I knew he gave the moment exactly what he owed. He is a major artist, one of the greats of his generation.

And we continue, in more playful but equally sincere tones, with Sacha Baron Cohen on Taika Waititi:

A film can be said to have been made by Taika Waititi in the same way that a picture can be said to have been painted by Picasso. Not because he doesn’t know where the eyes go in his face, but because of the way he expresses his unique voice. The first Taika work I saw was his 2014 mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows, a film that could have been a disaster, was instead extraordinary. It was brilliantly comical and at the same time somehow got me hooked on the fate of a group of murderous vampires. So I made up my mind to meet Taika and get him to work with me, which of course he refused to do. Now, having seen all of his movies, from Hunt for the Wilderpeople to Reservation Dogs, I’m really saddened. Taika has won an Oscar and made some hilarious, heartfelt blockbusters. Yet he always gives his work a light touch. He tells stories that are really worth seeing, even when they are sad or satirical. And they are always fun. He represents the best of a bygone era of wild dudes and Hollywood rock stars, mixed with the brilliance of a first class auteur… Actually, sorry, but this dude is really starting to piss me off. “I’m a goddamn genius and I’m funny too.” Could someone else write this article?

Finally, we conclude with the enthusiasm of Denis Villeneuve for Zendaya

For me, Zendaya he is a thousand years old. You have already lived many lives before this one. Yet, she is also as young as spring. By some inextricable paradox, she also gives the impression of having been born sometime in the distant future. She is timeless, and she can do it all. Just in the past year or so, Zeldaya has lit up, like a shooting star captured on celluloid, Malcolm & Marie by Sam Levinson. She erupted emotionally as her teenage years disintegrated into the cultural phenomenon of Levinson, Euphoria. She shined in Spider-Man: No Way Home, a film that dominated the box office in a year in which she became the muse of extremes. But Zendaya is so much more than that. She is in herself a creative force of her own, a cultural icon in the making. Someone driven by pure inspiration, empathy and respect for her craft, that she uses authenticity as a new super power. She seems fearless, she has deep roots and I love that she still laughs like a little girl. Zendaya is the future. And there is nothing that comforts me more. This is just the beginning.
