San Giovanni in Fiore: the Florense Festival of Arts starts from 27 August

SAN GIOVANNI IN FIORE With a show by the storyteller William Gatto, dedicated to the places of the spirituality of Abbot Gioacchino, one of Dante Alighieri’s inspirers, the traditional fair of San Giovanni in Fiore was inaugurated, by choice of the mayor Rosaria Succurro returned to her original path after many years. «It seemed right and meaningful – explains the mayor – to restore the historic route of the fair, this year included in a program of top-level cultural events, in order to attract other tourists and visitors. Tradition, art, culture, references to Gioachimite spirituality, natural beauties and food and wine are the resources on which we have been focusing from the beginning to increase the presence in the city, which in the summer of 2022 has always registered a full house together with Lorica, never so animated like now”. «The recovery, even physical, of the street of the fair is part – adds the mayor Succurro – of a wider project to relaunch the area concerned. The traditional fair of San Giovanni in Fiore will remain until next Sunday. At the same time, on 27 and 28 August, the Florense Festival of Arts will be held in the Gioachimite abbey, with writers, journalists, actors, scholars and creatives who will tell their works and talk about the different expressive languages, in a context – concludes the Mayor Succurro – of extraordinary charm and enormous historical and architectural importance ».
