An unmissable event for the city of Reggio Calabria with the company “Ludovica Rambelli Teatro” of Naples who will stage the show “The Conversion of a Horse” on July 29 at the Aragonese Castle with the tableaux vivants of the works of the great Baroque painter Caravaggio . The show built with the tableaux vivants technique is a work of extreme simplicity and at the same time of great emotional impact: under the eyes of the spectators there will be 23 canvases by Caravaggio made with the bodies of the actors and the aid of everyday objects and fabrics draped. A single cut of light will illuminate the scene as if framed in an imaginary frame in which the artist’s works will materialize, rhythmically accompanied by the music of Mozart, Bach, Vivaldi, Sibelius. The show born in 2006, thanks to the intuition and sensitivity of Ludovica Rambelli, director of the Malatheatre Theater Company, in recent years has been represented around Italy and abroad in museums, galleries, squares, sacrati always preserving the its suggestion, and its magic for an audience that is so much more attentive and complicit, when not warned of the epiphany of a simple, rigorous, artisanal work.

The event is promoted by the cultural art and entertainment association “Calabria behind the scenes – APS” as part of the “Teatro dell’Anima” project. Le vie dell’Arte, le vie dello Spirito ”funded by 8 per thousand from the Waldensian church, in partnership with the Municipality of Reggio Calabria. The cultural project will be carried out in the coming months in various municipalities of the Calabria Region (Cassano All’Ionio, Guardia Piemontese, Reggio Calabria, Bova Marina, Sant’Alessio) and provides for the realization of artistic and cultural activities within religious buildings, cultural sites, schools and social centers in the involved territories.

The artistic section will be addressed to the production and construction of tableaux vivants, scenic representations, where pictorial art and theatrical art overlap to generate a mystical and sensorial experience. The show of living paintings will be created and staged by a group of Calabrian actors of the BA17 Company, who will try their hand at this innovative experience for the Calabrian theater sector. The works of art represented will be drawn from the pictorial masterpieces of great Italian artists and Calabrian artists (Mattia Preti, Nunzio Bava, Annunziato Vitrioli, Gaele Govelli, Domenico Oranges) who have wisely narrated scenes of spirituality over the millennia starting from from the analysis of sacred texts. To the original production of the tableaux vivants Calabresi will be accompanied by the scheduled event of the national company Ludovica Rambelli Teatro which will give greater prominence to the artistic proposal of the project.

On the educational and social level, in order to stimulate the creativity and sensitivity of young people, artistic workshops are planned for the students of the “Preti-Frangipane” Art School, partner of the project; and as a tool for involvement and social insertion, the workshops will also be addressed to young immigrants present in the reception facilities managed by the Coopisa Association. Furthermore, a specific research and dissemination activity is envisaged that aims to promote the Calabrian artistic and cultural heritage through seminars and meetings in partnership with the Department of Humanities of the University of Calabria.
