Jordan Peele has become over the years one of the most beloved directors of the seventh art and now there is a lot of waiting for Nopehis latest film that ideally concludes a trilogy that began with Escape continued with We. Nope the film review

Nope brings Jordan Peele’s films into an almost fantastic division, while not losing sight of the horror matrix that has always distinguished him. If, however, in his two previous works the writing had been the real strength this time it seems that the director focuses more on the staging, with an impressive work by Hoyte van Hoytema, Christopher Nolan’s usual collaborator as regards the direction of photography which here enhances the saturation of the most splatten scenes. The actors manage to create empathy with their characters, but what is missing is a curation of the story in its main vein. Jordan Peele has accustomed us to amaze us, but in Nope we find almost a normal film. There is nothing of the twists of Noi, nor of the action of Scappa. We are faced with a beautiful film outside, but rather poor in its writing despite the density of the topics: from racism to meta cinema with the use of the film camera to be able to immortalize the flying saucer that inhibits electricity. The soundtrack is one of the strengths of the film together with the aforementioned photography, but unfortunately the horror of the summer does not fully convince. Surely a film by this great author is also worth watching, but when the expectations are so high and after two first works of the highest quality everyone had the right to expect something more.

Nope, the Italian release of the film
