Amber Heard and Johnny Depp could end up in court again. Months after losing to her ex-husband in the defamation trial, the actress has decided to appeal the verdict in favor of Depp and against the sentence that condemns her to pay 10.4 million dollars in damages to she.
According to the New York Times, the Aquaman star claims the trial took place in the wrong state, Virginia, when it should have taken place in California, where both actors are residents.
In a 68-page appeal, Heard’s attorneys also objected to the jury’s decision to exclude certain pieces of evidence, including the psychologists’ notes that lawyers say document the abuse allegations.
Based on these and other considerations, the actress’s legal team has asked the court to overturn the jury’s verdict with either a dismissal of Depp’s claims or a new trial. โThe court improperly prevented the jury from considering several separate cases in which Heard reported Depp’s abuse to a doctor,โ the lawyers said.
