The Dekru quartet from Ukraine in “Light Souls”

The quartet Dekru expresses thetheater archetype. Use the iconic power of the figure of the mime (an actor completely dressed in black and with his face painted white) to exalt the emotions of the audience: fromcomic effect of recognizing the tics of everyday life (in the office, in the elevator, in the car) at suggestions aroused by imaginative images such as an enchanted garden and a seabed inhabited by curious creatures.

Thanks to the sole use of the body, during the show many original characters appear before our eyes who act in many different places giving life to a diverse set of independent scenes which go to create a funny story of the vicissitudes of the human being. That of Dekru it’s a universal language that speaks to everyone. The viewer is taken on a journey full of laughs in the comedy of lifebetween poetry and social satire. Sometimes like a 3D movie or augmented reality experience, sometimes like an old black and white film.

You will find yourself at the heart of a merry circus, then involved in the dynamic competition of Olympic athletes and then you will follow the love story of two living statues with bated breath. All through short silent scenes in which four artists now funny, now intense, tell with a look at the same time ironic and delicate our life.

Light souls is a show written and directed by the director Liubov Cherepakhina, teacher of the prestigious Academy of Variety and Circus Arts in Kiev. Spiritual heirs of Marcel Marceaui Dekru are the new masters of physical theatre, awarded in numerous industry reviews, including the Moscow World Circus Festival and the Odessa Clown and Mimi Festival. Thanks to a perfect body language that does not use words, the show has been very successful in many countries around the world.
