Great guests in the splendid scenery of Vieste. “Spectacular evenings in the name of culture and current affairs”

It had to be the President of the Chamber Roberto Fico to open the Gargano edition of the Libro Possibile in Vieste, but this time too it was blocked by the government crisis. And so the protagonists of the first evening of the Festival were the winner of the Strega Prize, Mario Desiati, the former magistrate Gherardo Colombo, the director of Repubblica Maurizio Molinari and the geologist Mario Tozzi. The mayor was the hosts for this second edition scheduled in Vieste Giuseppe Nobiletti, the councilor for culture Graziamaria Starace and obviously the artistic director of the Festival, Rosella Santoro.

Justice and current affairs at the center of the second evening del Libro Possible in Vieste. The 21st edition of the most important Italian summer square culture festival, this year entitled ‘The year to come’ – in homage to Lucio Dalla 10 years after his death – offers a dense page of in-depth studies dedicated to the issues of legality and the most recent events. A precise choice of the artistic direction of the Possible Book which, in agreement with local governments, places the Festival as a cultural garrison and in contrast to the Mafia mentality that also concern the lands of the Capitanata. It does so by inviting the protagonists and the most authoritative voices in the fight against organized crime to Vieste.

At 8 pm the senator and former anti-mafia magistrate is expected Pietro Grasso, who participates in the Possible Book with the book “My friend Giovanni” (Feltrinelli). A direct and important testimony that comes 30 years after the terrible mafia massacres of ’92 in which the two judges were killed Falcone and Borsellino and from that Maxiprocesso that condemned an entire mafia system, of which until then even the existence was denied. Grasso, who was a judge on the sidelines of the maxi-trial, remembers in first person the heroic friend of the magistrate who passed away.

The ‘Universal Library’ will be inaugurated in 2024 in Umbria conceived by the enlightened cashmere entrepreneur Brunello Cucinelli, also known worldwide for his vision of Humanistic Capitalism and Human Sustainability. Cucinelli intervenes in the Possible Book in dialogue with the director Rosella Santoro. He will talk about future visions and the year that will see his ‘project for Humanity’, or what he himself defines as a mammoth ‘Lay Temple of knowledge’ that will host up to 500 thousand volumes. Inspired by the great thinkers of ancient times and by the words of the Emperor Hadrian: ‘Whoever builds libraries, will have built public granaries for future generations’, Brunello Cucinelli bases his virtuous business model on culture, spirituality and beauty, which places the dignity of the human person and the ethics of truth at the center. At the end of the speech it will be interesting to listen to the answers of the King of cashmere to the impossible questions of Dario Vergassola, the actor from La Spezia known for his comic interviews.
