From prison to the stage in Livorno on stage the inmates

Saturday 10, Sunday 11 and Monday 12 September, after the debut last June, the House of Prison on the Island of Gorgona (Livorno) returns to open its doors to the public for “Metamorphosis”, a show that sees the inmates / actors of the House of Prison and following the success of “Ulysses or colors of the mind”, winner of the “ANCT 2020 Catarsi – Theaters of Diversity” award. “Metamorphosis” is the second episode of the trilogy “The theater of the sea” conceived by Gianfranco Pedullà and artistically created in collaboration with Francesco Giorgi and Chiara Migliorini. Even “Metamorphosis” – after the first episode “Ulysses or colors of the mind” – is an invitation to regain possession of the symbolic dimension of life, to all come out of the small prisons of everyday life. Starting from some ideas of the extraordinary work “Metamorphosis” – written by Ovid over two thousand years ago – the show poetically and ironically retraces the great myths of the foundation of civilization: from the Golden Age to the Iron Age; from the myth of Bahamut to the Harpies, from the Minotaur to Diogenes looking for man, from the Phoenix to Apollo and Daphne, from Theseus and Ariadne to review the great constellations of the sky: until the appearance of a sea horse the viewer in the womb of the Great Mother Earth. “Metamorphosis” is a proposal for change: an invitation to dive into the myths of the Mediterranean to rethink our present and imagine a better future.

ERRI DE LUCA FOR “AN HOUR” ON THE STAGE

After last year’s concert by Ludovico Einaudi and the recent one by Frankie Hi NRG with AlJazeera and Giorgio Li Calzi, Erri De Luca arrives on the famous Pianoro di Ciolandrea, an enchanting natural terrace in Cilento, in a unique and unrepeatable show with actress Sabrina Knaflitz . The unprecedented couple will perform – for the first time in Campania – Saturday 03 September 2022 (from 7 pm – unnumbered seats, € 15 at the box office) staging the show “One hour at the Theater”. The event is organized by Ponderosa Music & Art in collaboration with the seventeenth edition of the Autumn Equinox event organized by the Municipality of San Giovanni a Piro (Sa). The theatrical show is a two-part story in which the exploits of a flower, the oddities of a tree planted in a garden, which does not let its fruits fall, are narrated, the adventure of two famous chemical gases, the point of view of an ancient dweller of forests. There is news about equality and advice in the event of an avalanche. In between, an American writer from the 1900s breaks through and shatters the relationship between the sexes by sprinkling sparks. The finish is Neapolitan. Sabrina Knaflitz thus recounts the genesis of friendship and the working relationship which resulted in a Ponderosa tour with the emblematic title “An hour at the theater”. A text written by the Neapolitan writer, poet and activist and interpreted on stage as if it were a two-part story by De Luca himself together with the Roman actress. “We theater people would all go to dinner after the show. Before Covid it was done like this. A few years ago, on one of these occasions, after having recited a ‘Richard III’ directed by Alessandro Gassmann, I had the pleasure and honor of meeting Erri De Luca who had come to attend the show. Since then a friendship has been born. We met recently and Erri asked me what I was doing. I told him about my projects, but also about the frustration of us theater actors after Covid blocked everything a bit. He listened to me and then he said to me: “Look, I wrote something for the two of us”. It is truly a great honor to participate in a project of a great writer and a great person like him. I could only answer yes. During the show – continues Knaflitz – there is me, him, a lectern, two chairs and a table. No music. Only words and thoughts fill the scene. High thoughts to reflect on and to deal with all together. And seeing the reaction to the debut, I can assure you that Erri with his writings manages to create a very special empathy with the audience. On the other hand, his thoughts, clear and deep, are like arrows. They catch you. All of us, but especially young people, need a conscience, ideologies, precise thoughts even on important issues such as those that he manages to express with his fine pen ”, continues Sabrina Knaflitz. Enthusiastic because “in such a difficult time for the theater, the freedom he and I have to act represents a priceless opportunity, as well as an unmissable one. Of course there is a lot of Erri’s passions – concludes the actress – we talk about nature, flowers, mountains, how to save yourself from avalanches, animals in the forest, gas in chemistry, Neapolitan poetry, immigrants. . But on stage, and I say this with pride, there is also a lot of space for women. Important, intelligent, independent women who have left their mark. Highly described. Women who are a source of inspiration and, I say it from my point of view, to be proudly proud of. Like the Kenyan poet Shailja Patel or Dorothy Parker, an American intellectual and activist who crossed the twentieth century, of which I speak in a monologue in which a woman waits for a phone call that will never arrive ”.

THE CURTAIN FALLS ON THE REVIEW OF “I SOLISTI” WITH TWO UNMISSABLE DEBUTS

Last appointments for the XXVIII edition of “The soloists of the theater”, the historic review directed by Carmen Pignataro, on 3 and 4 September. Gianluigi Fogacci on 3 September is the protagonist of “In volo with Daniele Del Giudice”. On the occasion of the first year after the death of Daniele Del Giudice, the Law and Rovescio Company pays homage to him with the reading “In volo with Daniele Del Giudice” from “Detaching the shadow from the ground” by D. Del Giudice edited by Teresa Pedroni with Gianluigi Fogacci and the music of Luigi Giuliano Ceccarelli. They say that for the author “Flying was his great game, his ancient passion, a place from which the vision of the world is no longer horizontal, but not even vertical.” The discovery of a new way of seeing and reading reality. The protagonist of this novel as a child wanted to be an airplane, not a pilot, but one day he really finds himself at the controls as in the worst of dreams. So it happens that you have to fly alone. In “In flight with Daniele del Giudice” Gianluigi Fogacci, sensitive actor with proven experience, gives voice to a silent dialogue with Bruno, his commander, the flight master “the one who knows the secret of who” knows how to remove the shadow from the ground. “The curtain falls on the review on September 4 with Alberto Bassetti’s“ Sorelle ”, with Laura Lattuada and Sarah Biacchi directed by Pino Strabioli. An empty, indefinable space. Two young women, two sisters, waiting for an unlikely buses, meditate on their future as actresses who have just seen their small theater company fail. But it is not “Teatro nel Teatro”, nor a reflection on the role of the actor. This comedy stems from the need to intervene, in the context of writing, on the eternally dramatic situation of precariousness, which came precisely in this period (between pandemics, winds of war and virtual realities that seem to dissolve all our residual certainties) so overwhelmingly in the limelight. was to be able to talk about it in a non-chronological way, but apparently light, delicate (also visually: this is one of the reasons for the strictly bare scene), without minimalism but also without screams. A comedy made up of small and ordinary characters, sensitive and fragile: it is no coincidence that two actresses; that is, people who already live in a precarious position by constitution, made up of physical and above all mental displacements, character and emotional adhesions to dramatic or comic situations, happy or desperate but in any case different, others.

STREET ARTISTS ARE BACK IN VENETO

“Those who danced were seen as crazy by those who did not hear the music.” The XXVII edition of “La Luna nel Pozzo”, an international festival dedicated to Street Theater, is inspired by this famous aphorism by Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche, which from Wednesday 31 August to Saturday 4 September will transform the charming historic Venetian village of Caorle (VE) into a crossroads of artists from all over the world. Excellences of juggling, acrobatics, clowning, circus art, music and theater will conquer the squares and streets of the “Little Venice” in a continuous mixing between genres and a contamination between artists and public in the multiplicity and in the internationality that only festivals of this level can offer. For its high artistic quality, “La Luna nel Pozzo” was included among the street theater festivals recognized by the Ministry of Culture for the three-year period 2022-2024. A total of eighteen companies will perform in this 2022 Edition for a total of over fifty shows. The multi-award-winning quartet of mimes Dekru, considered the spiritual heirs of Marcel Marceau, will also arrive from Ukraine. Light souls who, dressed in black and made up in white, accompany the viewer on a journey full of laughter in the comedy of life, between poetry and social satire, with an ironic and delicate look at the same time.
