Familiarization workshop with the standard forms of incorporation of private WAQFS in Niger: Popularization of the standard documents of the institution with economic operators

The High Authority of the WAQF organized yesterday morning, a familiarization workshop with the standard forms of constitution of the private waqf at the place of the economic operators, and Nigerien investors. This workshop aims to educate economic operators on the constitution and the WAQF concept. It thus consecrates the popularization of standard WAQF documents to potential constituents. It is the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Niger, Mr. Moussa Sidi Mohamed who presided over the opening of the works.

In his speech, Mr. Moussa Sidi Mohamed indicated that the WAQF is considered as an operation aimed at investing in productive capital which must generate income and profits to be distributed to the poor or other beneficiaries designated by the founder, but also aimed at finance commercial or economic development projects. It leads to a reinjection of social surplus into the economic circuit, stimulating demand and production, especially of basic necessities. It also makes it possible to reduce inequalities by providing disadvantaged categories with purchasing power enabling them to achieve a decent standard of living.

“According to Islam, the importance of the waqf at the individual level is that the life of this world is essentially a preparation for the life of the hereafter and in which man, by his faith and deeds, determines its future status. The Quran therefore reminds believers that ”Wealth and children are the adornment of the life of this world. However, good works that persist have a better reward with your Lord and [suscitent] a beautiful hope – surah – The Cave” (Al-Kahf), verse 46. This is why I invite you to direct and accentuate your humanitarian and social actions in the investment of development projects through the Waqf mechanism. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Niger as a structure of support and supervision of economic actors intends to continue the advocacy with the latter in order to encourage their massive adherence to the principle of Waqfs “he underlined. .

For his part, the acting director general of the WAQF High Authority, Mr. Issaka Nouhou recalled that the Waqf is one of the jewels of Muslim culture which has proven itself in the context of scientific, economic, spiritual and social development. and cultural in the times of the Prophet (SAW) and his Rightly Guided Successors. It is clearly a temporary or perpetual immobilization of movable or immovable property whose usufruct serves to defend a noble cause. The WAQF benefits its constituent both in this lower world and more in the hereafter. Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said when the son of Adam dies, all his good deeds stop except in three (3) cases. He leaves behind him a pious child who invokes in his favor; a Sadaqatul djarayyah (a donation that runs-perpetually) and a science from which humanity benefits.

It must be said that the highest authorities of our country, said the acting director general of the WAQF High Authority, were right in creating this institution whose importance is well established. “The High Authority of the Waqf measures the scope of its mission and we face the challenges with faith and conviction given the nobility of the cause we are called to serve. Thus we work in synergy with our partners, for social inclusion and empowerment of the most vulnerable layers of our society in the medium and long term”, he concluded.
