Shows, concerts and exhibitions animate Bari even in August. For the citizens who stay in the city and for the many tourists who visit it in the height of summer. “We want to transform Bari into an open-air stage”, says the city councilor for Culture Ines Pierucci. And so for the review “Le due Bari” it will be possible to attend musical performances and theatrical plays even in the suburbs.
The mid-August events fall in particular in the section “Under the sky of the suburbs” and are organized by the cultural association Time zones. Today in the Amphitheater of Peace at the Hypercoop of Japigia Gianni Ciardo will stage his last show on Dante (at 8.30 pm). After the iconic film LaCapaGira by Alessandro Piva will be screened and finally the evening will end with the set of DJ Ciccio. All appointments are free.
“In the days of maximum tourist turnout in the city, in which many Bari will also remain, we intend to guarantee the widest use of museums and offer concerts and shows – explains the councilor – The” Le due Bari “project was born precisely to unite the different territories of the city through culture, focusing on the needs of those who could hardly enjoy the beauty of a live show. Redistributing opportunities, overcoming inequalities, building a model of sustainable growth constitute the new lexicon of cultural policy in urban contexts ”.
For art lovers, in August (and in the following days) you can also visit several city museums: at the Civic Museum, for example – open from Monday to Friday from 9.30 to 13.30 and from 17 to 20, the Saturday from 9.30 to 13.30, and on Sundays and holidays including August from 17 to 20 – the Blub exhibition was set up. The art knows how to swim by the street artist Blub: from Botticelli’s Venus to the Mona Lisa, there are many characters who have been represented with the diving mask.
At the Margherita theater (until Thursdays from 5 to 10 pm and on Fridays and Saturdays from 5 to 11 pm) the exhibition on Obey is open, and finally at the archaeological museum of Santa Scolastica you can admire the exhibition “The triumph of light. Symbols, rebirths and the dialogue of opposites ”promoted by the Metropolitan City in collaboration with the University of Bari (from Tuesday to Saturday from 9 to 19 and on Sundays and holidays, including Ferragosto, from 9 to 13).
There is also great excitement in the other provinces. Theatrical performances, talks, works and archaeological finds to be discovered in the main cultural sites and museums of our land. Visions, sounds and words intertwine in the appointments scheduled in Puglia. Space for music with the appointment in the Ferragnano farm in Locorotondo, at 9 pm, of the Locus festival which will see the electronic mathematician Caribou as the protagonist and his sound explorations through the thousand ways of understanding this musical genre. With him guests of the evening the Italian rap producer Mace and Indian Wells (admission fee; info locusfestival.it). In the Gondar park of Gallipoli from 21 Anonima Group and Uncode, the Galactica electronic music festival will propose the event dedicated to the electronic scene and international techno where artists from the international scene will perform such as Paul Kalkbrenner, Amelie Lens, Agent of Time, Skizzo, Ahl Iver and V111 (info 389.511.52.60).
In the Lecce urban park, Coolclub’s Sei Off will host a long evening with Pop X, the young collective Bnkrr44 and, at the opening, the rapper Ade and the MuFu collective (at 9.30 pm; tickets available on the dice.fm circuit and at the box office ). Also in the Salento capital in the Palmieri boarding school, the Cosmic vegan fest began, the festival on health issues, spirituality, eco-sustainable practices in Italy with concerts, workshops and conferences. In the Davide Santorsola court of Palazzo Beltrani in Trani an appointment, at 9 pm, with Bonjour Caterina with the Patty Lomuscio quartet. A project entirely dedicated to the singer Caterina Valente, one of the talents in the history of international entertainment after the Second World War: in the concert the singer will be joined by Vito Di Modugno, teacher and multi-instrumentalist (organist, pianist and bassist) and by two masters of the jazz scene as the drummer Massimo Manzi and the guitarist Pietro Condorelli (info and reservations at 0883.50.00.44). The actor Michele Placido, for the Intraterrae festival in Monteleone di Puglia, at 9 pm in the municipal villa (free admission), will be the protagonist of Evening of Honor, a music and poetry recital in which he will be accompanied by Gianluigi Esposito (voice and guitar ) and Antonio Saturno (guitar and mandolin).
In Puglia it will be possible to visit the archaeological museum of Altamura (from 8.30 to 13.30), the archaeological park of Monte Sannace in Gioia del Colle (from 8.30 to 15), the Jatta museum in Ruvo di Puglia (from 8 , 30 to 13.30), the Swabian castle of Trani (from 8.30 to 13.30) and in Taranto the national archaeological museum MarTa will be open (from 9 to 19; guided tours are also provided at 9, 11 and 17.30; info and reservations on the website shopmuseomarta.it). It will also be possible to discover the millennial history of our region by choosing to visit the archaeological museums of Manfredonia (from 2.30 pm to 7.30 pm), Canosa di Puglia from 9 am to 2 pm and Canne della Battaglia from 10 am to 6.30 pm (info Musei.puglia.beniculturali.it).
Also this year the traditional appointments were held at dawn on August 15th. For the final event of the Piano lab festival it was the pianist Alessandro Sgobbio in the natural reserve of Torre Guaceto in Carovigno who accompanied the sunrise with the notes of his piano, just as the new day began in the park of Santa Maria d ‘ Agnano in Ostuni in the last appointment of the Teatro Madre festival with the ancestral rhythms of the Yarákä group, Gianni Sciambarruto, Virginia Pavone and Simone Carrino.
